How are osteopaths trained? What does treatment involve? Osteopathy is the science of Human Mechanics. Thic evaluation and treatment is based on viewing the body as a whole – i.e. how the integration of the body’s structures (bones, joints, ligaments, discs, muscles, tendons and nerves) function with each other within the body’s system. Orthopaedics / Rheumatology, Cardiovascular system / Respiratory, Gastroenterology / Urology, Obstetrics / Gynaecology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Dermatology, Oncology, Special senses (eyes, ears and smell), Immunology were all studied as were the Principles of Osteopathy, Biomechanics and Clinical Methods. How are osteopaths trained? What does treatment involve? BSc (Hons), D.O., M.R.O. Nigel, originally from Taunton in Somerset, first established his practice in London E11 in 1987, moving it to Snaresbrook in 1992. He initially graduated from The University of London in 1983 with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology. He then continued his studies with a further four years at The British School of Osteopathy and was rewarded with an Honours Diploma in Osteopathy. The diploma is now a BSc degree.
