Horsey Therapist: August 2006
http://thehorseytherapist.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 28, 2006. Herd doesn't allow poor behavior. From my notes from the June 2006 clinic time with Harry Whitney:. The herd doesn't allow poor behavior, so we can think the way the herd would, and let a horse know he has got to feel better before he can get close. Example: my horse is feeing bad about something and I draw him close for some patting thinking that might help him feel better. Instead of seeking to help him feel better out at the end of the lead line before bringing him close.

Horsey Therapist: October 2006
http://thehorseytherapist.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 28, 2006. My friend asked, "Do you like challenge in all creatures or just horses? I like challenges less and less, though I doubt I'll ever get to zero tolerance of a challenge. I've had an adrenaline reaction tied into facing a challenge, and over the years, I've grown to enjoy life without adrenaline. A whole 'nother universe. And yes, I have kept passing up the opportunities to relate with bomb proof horses and mild, yielding humans in favor of developing relationships with those wi...

Horsey Therapist: July 2006
http://thehorseytherapist.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 29, 2006. Blogging horsey friend wrote about patterns: "And the changes and the circles and the up/ down transitions DO break up the bracing and [my horse] becomes light. It is magical.". Whatever we can do to communicate our requests so the horse understands and wants to go along with our requests, that will bring success. I can easily overlook what is going on and resume thinking that my actions are directly causing the horse's actions. No way! And hopefully I've set things up so the hor...

Horsey Therapist: September 2006
http://thehorseytherapist.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 30, 2006. Rusty and I went for a long trail ride today in the largest group ever. Eight of us for almost four hours. Up and down, across and around. Most of it quite lively. All of it totally lovely. The trees are changing color, the clear sky allowing for distant views of mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire. This is a big part of why I have horses. Posted by LJB @ 11:11 PM. Wednesday, September 27, 2006. To Push or Not To Push, that is the question. It is very easy for me to push&...

Horsey Therapist: May 2006

Monday, May 29, 2006. Riding again, and cones. It's been a few weeks since I rode. Maybe closer to many weeks. The rains we had would have kept me from riding, but in fact I was grounded because of injuries. Injuries due to coming off a horse, and injuries that left me determined to get together mentally with my horses before I mount them. So far I've kept to my word. I rode the littlest equine here, and the biggest. After our little bareback ride, she got lots of scratches and hanging out time. Whil...

Horsey Therapist: November 2006
http://thehorseytherapist.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 27, 2006. When I went out to feed some hay last night, standing there blinking in the brightness of spotlight turned on, were four dark horses facing me, side by side all in a row two yards from the doorway: Sofia, Bo, Kacee, and Rusty. Oh how I wish I had had my camera handy! Posted by LJB @ 10:00 AM. Sunday, November 26, 2006. I did not ride Rusty. One day I will be amazed watching Rusty and Bo share a pile of hay. Today I was amazed watching them standing still about three yards a...
