How Things Aren't: May 2012
http://howthingsarent.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Unfounded, Untested, and Disturbingly Biased Facts. Thursday, May 10, 2012. Who Then, If Not the Mayans? The Mayan calendar spans a period of 5,126 years and happens to end on December 21, 2012. To many, this means that the Mayans had privy knowledge about the ultimate fate of the world. To me, it means that Mayan calendar salesmen didn't have many repeat customers. Probably because they carved theirs on a rock. I mean it must have, right? That's when the Mayan calendar starts. You may be thinking that I...

Because there are already exactly 159 kabajillion runners out there maintaining wonderful, well-written, informative blogs about the subject. Well, due to my new-new-word. Consistent in your training regimen. Inconsistency can create muscle confusion which accelerates improvement. The second and most important principle of run...
How Things Aren't: Tears
http://howthingsarent.blogspot.com/2013/11/tears.html
Unfounded, Untested, and Disturbingly Biased Facts. Monday, November 18, 2013. Daryl laughed. It was something he hadn't done before. He had gasped, he had screamed, and - most often - had made no sound at all. But he had never laughed while dying. The absurdity of it made him laugh even harder, but he died all the same. A thousand times he had been to this place. A thousand times he had never left. He could leave. He should. Leave Just run away and never return. But where would he go? Stealing past the ...

Unfounded, Untested, and Disturbingly Biased Facts. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Jack and Jill - A Halloween Tale. Jack are you up there? Jill was nearing the tree and squinting into the shaded branches. Why do you put up with that man? Jack asked as he bent himself in half over a branch and somersaulted out of the tree. "Let's run away together and leave him to fetch his own water.". She rolled her eyes, but was smiling at the sight of him. "You know I can't do that. He's my father.". All right, I'll gi...

Thursday, October 27, 2011. I think purchased Halloween costumes should be banned. Here we have a holiday tailor-made for exercising cleverness and creativity, and people head to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Halloween-Mart, etc. to take the easy way out. By the time I see the 16th similar costume at my door, I want to shout, "No! No treats until you come back in a better costume! That's what the internet is for. Join me in a new crusade! Write your state senator and representative! Saturday, October 8, 2011. Summer...

Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Thursday is the day- more surgery. We hope it will make things better, but the doctor has to tell us everything that could possibly go wrong, including possible death. Pretty sure that's not going to happen, but just the thought makes me contemplate my life. I can say without hesitation that I wouldn't trade my life, pain and all. The good things are infinitely better than the bad things are bad. May 24, 2012 at 1:14 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

kconsiders: Rain
http://kconsiders.blogspot.com/2011/10/rain.html
Saturday, October 8, 2011. I've been pondering the evocative propensity of rain. Let's face it- rain is not simply rain. Spring rain is hopeful. It makes us feel (sometimes erroneously) that winter is past, that good times lie ahead, full of green, growing things and beautiful gardens, bursting with fresh possibilities. The song, "Singin' in the Rain" must refer to spring rain. Autumn rain is somber, even. How great it is to live in a world that has it all- anticipation, excitement, melancholy. I'm wife ...
kconsiders: Laundry Room Blues
http://kconsiders.blogspot.com/2011/06/laundry-room-blues.html
Sunday, June 5, 2011. With a little gentle prodding, okay begging, Andrea gave me a wonderful Mother's Day present this year- she redid my laundry room. I forgot to take a "before" picture with the doors still on the cabinets, so just imagine them. Here's Andrea, working hard:. My contribution was the curtain covering the pipes, but it was Andrea's idea. I love the colors; most of my house is pretty neutral, so it's a nice change. It feels so much bigger and cleaner. Thanks Andy! June 6, 2011 at 6:25 AM.

Saturday, May 7, 2011. It's Mother's Day tomorrow, time to reflect on how blessed I am. She was a widow for many years, which was very hard, but she didn't wallow in self-pity. Even when she got Alzheimer's, she remained sweet. I miss her. I have grandchildren who love me. Who would have thought thirteen little spirits could add so much to life? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). kconsiders: Quirky Eccentrics
http://kconsiders.blogspot.com/2011/04/quirky-eccentrics.html
Sunday, April 10, 2011. I love the word quirky. It sounds fun and playful. Weird sounds, well, weird. So is being quirky a state of mind, a state of being, a state of dress? Is it a matter of style? Is it something you're born with, or can you develop it? If you have to work at it, doesn't it cease to be quirky? We all have quirks, so does that make us all quirky? If not, why not? Are certain quirks more "quirkworthy"? Guess some questions just don't have answers. April 17, 2011 at 8:15 PM.

How Things Are Done. Not much to add to this supercut of completely nails action heroines, except that I love it when a film can feature a badass character who just happens to be female, rather than making it all about “femme fatale” cliches. How Things Aren't
Unfounded, Untested, and Disturbingly Biased Facts. Wednesday, January 6, 2016. I Need You to Think I'm Interesting. But here's the thing. After saying, "I like change" for the five hundredth time within the past few months (and probably the five kabillionth time in my life), I realized that I'm full of crap. Instead of saying, "I like change", I should be saying, "I like change when I like it, but I don't like change when I don't like it", which is exactly the same as saying nothing. If I'm looking for ...
