FRETWATER: Wasatch Plateau Aspen Color Tour
http://www.fretwater.net/2014/09/wasatch-plateau-aspen-color-tour.html
True stories from 16 years of rangerin' and ramblin'. September 21, 2014. Wasatch Plateau Aspen Color Tour. If wonderful-ness were a tree. I thought we saw big Aspens a couple years ago on Table Mountain in Nevada, but these were much bigger. Despite 100 miles of dirt road I was glad that the old '77 ran like a faithful steed yet again, carrying us to the hinterlands of Utah for a dose of fall color tailgate camping. Big tree.little hugger. The faithful steed waits. Biggest aspen I've ever seen.

FRETWATER: Wilderness in the Water
http://www.fretwater.net/2014/09/wilderness-in-water.html
True stories from 16 years of rangerin' and ramblin'. September 3, 2014. Wilderness in the Water. This summer, as the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act approached, I was reminded of a trip I did a couple years ago when an interesting aspect of wilderness first occurred to me. I would say this is the way it's supposed to happen, but all too often in our day and age this annual wildness of the rivers is tamed by the placement of dams. Where we are tonight the river roars and foams like a wild beast.

FRETWATER: High Uintas - E. Fork Blacks Fork
http://www.fretwater.net/2014/08/high-uintas-e-fork-blacks-fork.html
True stories from 16 years of rangerin' and ramblin'. August 13, 2014. High Uintas - E. Fork Blacks Fork. While Lisa and I were crossing the Highline Trail our favorite part was what we patched together between the East Fork Blacks Fork and Red Castle. To put it all together was a memorable trip of fantastic scenery.and a reckoning of sorts with the lightning that scared me senseless in Oweep in summer 2013. Will write about that, and more, later this winter when I have some time. Mile 0 of 46.
