Dovetails a la Underhill…. | The Saw Blog
https://thesawblog.wordpress.com/2011/08/12/dovetails-a-la-underhill
All about hand saws, all the time. Dovetails a la Underhill…. So let’s get to it and you’ll see what I mean…. After I mark the baseline for the thickness of the stock on the tail board, I clamp it up in my Moxon twin screw vise. In my mind, for a 9 and 1/2 inch deep bookshelf case, I see three large dovetails joining each corner of the case. It’s with this layout in mind that I begin…. Now the same thing with the second tail…about two inches wide…. And the other side as well…. I make all of the right sla...

A tisket, a tasket, a mid-19th century English sash saw and other sundry goodies.🙂. If you were to conduct a survey ...

Woodworking by Hand: Buying USA Stanley Planes
http://woodworkingbyhand2.blogspot.com/2012/01/green-white-and-red-italian-advice-for.html
Saturday, January 21, 2012. Buying USA Stanley Planes. Pdf file can be download here:. Https:/ app.box.com/s/9y415ok5h83c5p73x9x6. A few years ago I began to buy my first Stanley planes on the net and I won my first auction for a strange red plane, paying it only $10. My skills and knowledge about planes were limited, so I asked a friend of mine for receiving more information about. For example, I find the frog adjusting screw useful only for smoothing planes in which a frequent mouth adjustment is desir...

What have we lost? | The Saw Blog
https://thesawblog.wordpress.com/2011/06/11/what-have-we-lost
All about hand saws, all the time. What have we lost? With the yard sale and flea market season now in full swing, old rusty tools shake off their dusty winter coats and wander out into the warm sunlight once more in hopes of finding a new home. Each Saturday morning in New England dawns with the promise of finding one of these long-lost treasures. Last week, on one such morning, I stumbled across this apparently common table saw blade from a nest of saws in the bottom of an old tool chest…. Table saws a...

After Project | orepass

July 24, 2015. The hospice cart project ended two months ago. Time has passed quickly with a heavy work load, summer vacations, gardens and other projects. I have been sharpening and cleaning tools which has become a post project ritual. Sharpening tools at the end of each day is a best practice, however there are many tools that are used infrequently during a project that become dull over an extended period of time. I like to make sure these have been cared for as well. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The Part-Time Woodworker: March 2015
http://theparttimewoodworker.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 30 March 2015. Tools of the Trades Show - Spring 2015. I attended the Tools of the Trades Show in Pickering this past Sunday, after missing the last couple of shows. It was nice to get back into it. This was the first show put on by the show's new owner and I have to give the guy high marks for a job well done. The seller thought this was made by Disston. Due to the "No. 104" in the casting. I don't. Think so, though, as that number is the only. Marking on it and I don't think Disston made. Tools...
