Monday, January 05, 2009. I had never done a step by step before and thought it would be interesting. This is basically how I do every painting. I found that the tree thing just wasn't working and went in the direction of individual portraits on a wall. Here I'm flushing out layout and background etc. Because I wanted to get all the frames to line up correctly I did a digital layout. Tuesday, January 27. Every Valentines Day it seems I can't resist sitting down to sew up a few sweet hearts. This year I started out with a bowl of cream and red wool hearts and a gorgeous box of vintage millinery flowers. After a perfectly luxurious afternoon of stitching I snapped a few photos of them all together. This red wool felted heart has a bouquet of the tineist plaster stamens and a satin Japanese cherry blossom. Five of the cream and pink ones together, so hard to pick a favorite! I am an art...

Monday, August 18, 2008. Portrait of Pregnant Candace. Candace was kind enough to come out to the arbor that leads to the woods in our backyard. I'm biased but I like it. I took one roll with the medium format and 4 sheets with 8x10. I developed the roll and made a contact sheet. This is my favorite but there are also two or three others I like. If you squint really hard you can see our fat little chubby-cheeked baby. Still not sure what we're going to name her.probably Dagmar. Sunday, August 17, 2008.
