What is the verdict?: September 2006
http://whatisjimmysverdict.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
What is the verdict? Thursday, September 28, 2006. I'm learning that I'm attracted to passionate people. I should probably narrow that down to people who are passionate about the things of God, but none-the-less, people who have found something worthy of their time, devotion and attention strike me in interesting ways. I did a teaching a couple years back on the word "passion." Webster's Dictionary defines "passion" as: "intense emotion compelling action." I love this definition. Let me say that they hav...

What is the verdict?: November 2005

What is the verdict? Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Sometimes I get frustrated having to accept things that I cannot explain. That being said, in some cases, I have embraced this mystery and "accepted" this to be true. For example, I hope never to understand (even if I could) everything about God - the mystery of our creator is exciting to me! But one thing I cannot reconcile that has become an issue of late and of which I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer relates to the concept of diversity.

What is the verdict?: June 2006

What is the verdict? Thursday, June 29, 2006. It was AMAZING - we were there and we were crying . . . . and we were there . . . . and it was just the most amazing experience . . . . I mean we were there and we were crying . . . . .". For example, I've seen tears because a situation is emotionally overwhelming. I've seen tears because one is mourning the loss of a loved one. I've seen tears because someone is sincerely repentant for their sin. I've seen tears stem from feelings of violation and confusion.

What is the verdict? Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Happy happy joy joy. The 20 people in this picture say it all. That's right folks, my favorite show of all time is returning for SEASON 13. And Survivor: Cook Islands. Will be a season like no other. (My embarassing skill is that I can name every contestant to play Survivor and the order they were voted off.). Life just doesn't get much better than that. Posted by Jimmy at 4:25 PM. Monday, August 28, 2006. A Disciple and a Martyr. Saturday, August 26, 2006.

What is the verdict? Friday, July 28, 2006. What I want to be like. I've been challenged to read the book Velvet Elvis. By Rob Bell. It's a pretty hot seller right now in the young adult world and it's actually been really interesting and inspiring to read. I came across this quote that I not only believe is true but is something I desire to be. As a teacher-at-heart, this is the kind of person I want to become. Posted by Jimmy at 6:03 PM. Tuesday, July 25, 2006. The meditations of my heart. 2 He lifted ...

What is the verdict?: March 2006
http://whatisjimmysverdict.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
What is the verdict? Friday, March 31, 2006. I had probably the best class of my seminary career last night. I'm taking Systematic Theology 3 and our topic surrounds the work of the Holy Spirit. We will be studying "pneumatology" (the study of the spirit) this quarter and the Spirit's role in life. We began by talking about a framework of faith and desire as we approach God. The terms we used were how fear and love go hand in hand in helping us understand what it means to relate to God. We also talked ab...

What is the verdict?: January 2006

What is the verdict? Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Long Time No See. So I've had to start posting on another blog for a class and have totally neglected this one. But here's some food for thought:. How selfish was it of me to want my own space? Paul writes that his desire is to become all things to all men - a friend to the friendless, a philosopher to the deep thinkers, a comforter to the lonely and hurt, even an athlete to the active. Wow, tall order to fill - but what higher calling have we?

What is the verdict? Wednesday, May 31, 2006. The newly established Osage Nation. Sometimes leadership is knowing when to speak up, sometimes it's knowing when to keep quiet. Sometimes leadership is making decisions, sometimes it's allowing others to take ownership. Sometimes leadership is about encouragement, sometimes it's about challenge. Sometimes leadership is about establishing authority, sometimes it's being a friend. Sometimes leadership is about action, all the time it's about prayer. This game ...

What is the verdict?: February 2006
http://whatisjimmysverdict.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
What is the verdict? Monday, February 27, 2006. So I've been on this "love" kick the last couple months. I've been focusing hard on 1 Corinthians 13 and trying to put it into practice. Yesterday during my prayer time it hit me that before I can even attempt to love others, I must first love God above all. I've tried to break down the Greatest Commandment into pieces that might actually help me understand it better. Love the Lord your God with all of your:. I believe we face this battle every minute of ev...
