Tuesday, April 28, 2015. I thought I'd show my walk yesterday from the bus stop to the dentist - for anyone who doesn't know Edinburgh. This is the New Town (begun 1780, so not exactly. New), built in a neo-Classical style. As you can see, it was a lovely day - though somewhat chilly. Ah, it's the start of the foreign-student-on-educational-trip-abroad season. Lots of Italian giggling from this lot. There are lots of little gardens - and some not so little - in the New Town. This is my dentist's street.

Sunday, March 29, 2015. I've spent quite a lot of last week listening to Brahms' German Requiem, which is so. Beautiful. I didn't know it before one of the choirs I sing in started rehearsing it, but now it's one of my favourite choral pieces. Mind you, this makes it one of my favourite twenty. It's wonderful standing in the middle of such a huge sound - even the quiet parts are powerful when 80 people are singing pianissimo. Grandson has always liked our little pebble pool. Monday, July 20, 2015. Scene 2: Granddaughter, who is not daft, notices the chocolate road signs. She is very. Interested in chocolate. Grandson, with permission from his mummy, takes a small bite of one of them. Granddaughter indicates her urgent desire for chocolate. Someone says, "Oh, give her a nibble." Saturday, August 08, 2015. Come in threes, do they? Poor you and your granddaughter. I HOPE they dont come in threes! Oh, dear. You did have a lucky escape though because I cant bear the thought of the damage that would have done to your eye. *shiver*. Good to hear you are recovering.and granddaughter too! Perhaps the third mishap will be very minor - a broken fingernail, maybe? I am glad you are recovering. What a nasty and scary experience. I can only imagine how gut-wrenching that must have been!

Saturday, May 16, 2015. On Tuesday we went up to Perth to have lunch with Son. Then we visited Branklyn Gardens, which are so colourful at this time of year, full of rhododendrons and azaleas. And mecanopsis, which are the colour of the sky on a sunny day. And trilliums - so dainty and pretty. This rhododendron is ridiculously pink. What a splash of colour. I keep meaning to visit the garden at some other time of year; somehow we always go around this time but I imagine that it has other seasonal delights.

Also, I went to meet other people bereaved by suicide on Wednesday, a small warm group, a space to talk offered as part of a festival of death and dying in our neighbouring town, called Pushing Up Daisies. A marvellous encounter, and the meeting of a need I didn't even know I had. I hope we may meet again. This weekend my brother and my sister will be here. Wednesday, 21 January 2015. About six inches today. It fell and it fell and it fell. We didn't go anywhere. Watched from the window as our car and garden disappeared under soft white curves. And snot, which has hijacked my life for a week now. I will spare you the details. Tissues have been a major part of my life. I can't think or feel properly. Meditate (nearly) every morning - no judgement about the leaping monkey that is my mind. Five minutes in - '. Did you say we were supposed to be doing? Keep remembering to be kind kind kind.
