Cycling northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula (10 days, 1050 km). I can't believe that it's now been ten years since I completed my first cycle tour from Vancouver to Halifax. And five years since I posted about any tour at all (a two-week trip from Frankfurt to Barcelona)! So, I thought I'd update this little blog, because I've just completed another lovely tour through Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Not bad, if you ask me. 1 Beating the rain. View Bike tour 2011. In a larger map. A long and lovely second-last day. Day 16: Corneilla-la-Rivière to Lloret de Mar, 175 km (! We left Rainer's home this morning in a particularly good mood, having just had a tasty breakfast of fresh pain du chocolat, croissants and baguette. I had just downloaded our new favorite song (I'm a bit embarrassed by how girly it is! And we sung along with it playing through my phone as we left Corneilla. The wind was at our backs; it was shaping up to be a good day. And I ...

View Bike tour 2011. In a larger map. Barcelona, at last. Day 17: Lloret de Mar to Barcelona, 75 km. We've been back from our trip for about a week now, and I never did get around to posting about its very lovely final days. So now that I'm procrastinating writing my thesis, I thought I would rectify the situation! I'm usually not that into shopping, but everyone in Barcelona is so well-dressed that we felt a bit out of place. And the clothes there are so beautiful! On our last night in Barcelona, Xavi t...

http://boffinsandcoldwarriors.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Boffins and Cold Warriors. About Boffins and Cold Warriors. On April 9th I attended the wonderful conference hosted by the newly renamed Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History entitled, The Pearson Government: 50 Years On. This was probably the finest conference I have attended, because of the depth and breadth of insight offered by speakers, commentators, and audience. It was a rare and splendid opportunity, and Im glad I was able to reschedule my other meetings to attend.
