The standard preparation of dal begins with boiling a variety of dal (or a mix) in water with some turmeric, salting to taste, and then adding a tadka (also known as tarka, chaunk or baghaar) at the end of the cooking process. Salt and pepper to taste. 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped. 1/3 cup vegan mayonnaise. Peel cucumber only if the skin is tough. Make it hollow lengthwise in the shape of a boat. Cut a base to make it stand. Mix all the ingredients of the filling and stuff in the prepared boats.
