Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. I wish she didn't have to die. I can't help it. I tear each time I read about Lo Hwei Yen - the 28-year old lawyer who was killed by merciless terrorists in the recent Mumbai attacks. And with her leaving, I imagine she remains the person she is - still bringing light to a whole lot of us who have been living in our dark world of busy-ness. I wish she didnt have to die.

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Alright. It has been a while since I went goo-goo-ga-ga over some actor. And my taste for favourite actors are not usually the ones others fancy. From Edward Norton to Jay Mohr, to Bruce Willis - well, they aren't what I would call your mainstream hunks. My former student Alfred kidded that I should blow up his picture "A1 size and paste it on the ceiling so that when you wake up, you see his face". Right.

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. I love to think. Don't ask why but I love to do it. And sometimes, I wonder why things are the way they are. I'm listing down some questions here, and I'm wondering if anyone has any answers to these. 1 Why doesn't the undies of The Incredible Hulk rip when everything else does? 2 Why does Donald Duck not wear pants but wears a swim suit when he goes swimming? 3 If Winnie is a girl's name, then is Pooh Bear a female or male bear?

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Armed with my ipod, handphone (just in case there were some casualties along the way) and my newly-glued up track shoes (the soles were flapping off when I was in India), I paced myself to a slow but steady run. I hadn't hydrated myself well when I started. I thought we'd be provided with the HI Spirit, but nope. Plus I'm 31 years old! I guess that's a reflection of my life right now too. Hidden pain. I met up with Wendy in the evening at the Conrad...

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. This is Home - Truly. National Day has just passed and although I wasn't one of the thousands at Marina Bay celebrating, the pride of being a Singaporean radiated more strongly than ever before in my 32 years of being one. But having travelled so many cities had made me appreciate the life I have in Singapore, and truly, each time I come back home, passing through the immigration counters, I whisper to myself, "This is home, truly.". A man who sat besi...

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Back to the doctors. My stomach didn't feel too good today, plus I woke up with a fever. So I went down to the doctor with my brother, who has been having a fever since Sunday. The doctor suggested we got mosquito repellents in our house, just in case. And so we did. I hope the fever goes away for myself and my brother, so that we know it's nothing too serious to worry about. I don't know what happened this week, but it got me down with a bad bout of g...

stepping onto siem reap: When Two Sources of Water Meet
http://siemreapstarfish.blogspot.com/2007/06/when-two-sources-of-water-meet.html
Stepping onto siem reap. An exploratory trip inspired by a vision to eradicate poverty through education. Friday, June 22, 2007. When Two Sources of Water Meet. Grace and I decided to head to the Tonle Sap Lake this afternoon, the biggest lake in Cambodia. It’s so big, it’s even bigger than Singapore. It not only houses many families living on boat or floating houses, there is even a church, a school, a library, fishing farms and even a boat repair shop! And maybe that’s what I love about traveling...
