thoughts from a starfish: December 2008

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. I wish she didn't have to die. I can't help it. I tear each time I read about Lo Hwei Yen - the 28-year old lawyer who was killed by merciless terrorists in the recent Mumbai attacks. And with her leaving, I imagine she remains the person she is - still bringing light to a whole lot of us who have been living in our dark world of busy-ness. I wish she didnt have to die.

thoughts from a starfish: March 2008

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Alright. It has been a while since I went goo-goo-ga-ga over some actor. And my taste for favourite actors are not usually the ones others fancy. From Edward Norton to Jay Mohr, to Bruce Willis - well, they aren't what I would call your mainstream hunks. My former student Alfred kidded that I should blow up his picture "A1 size and paste it on the ceiling so that when you wake up, you see his face". Right.

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. I love to think. Don't ask why but I love to do it. And sometimes, I wonder why things are the way they are. I'm listing down some questions here, and I'm wondering if anyone has any answers to these. 1 Why doesn't the undies of The Incredible Hulk rip when everything else does? 2 Why does Donald Duck not wear pants but wears a swim suit when he goes swimming? 3 If Winnie is a girl's name, then is Pooh Bear a female or male bear?

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Armed with my ipod, handphone (just in case there were some casualties along the way) and my newly-glued up track shoes (the soles were flapping off when I was in India), I paced myself to a slow but steady run. I hadn't hydrated myself well when I started. I thought we'd be provided with the HI Spirit, but nope. Plus I'm 31 years old! I guess that's a reflection of my life right now too. Hidden pain. I met up with Wendy in the evening at the Conrad...

footprints in india: Third Day Adventure
http://indiastarfish.blogspot.com/2007/05/third-day-adventure.html
My seven-day journey in India, covering the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and a small village town at the foot of the Himalayas, Pawalgarh. The weather was gloomy as the day started with a drizzle. I packed my backpack and headed to the dining room again for a hearty breakfast as Jayant had suggested. I ordered the American breakfast comprising 4 slices of toast, cornflakes, two sunny side up, fruits, juice and tea. The same waiter served me and asked, “Only one person eating? We reached Jaipur at around...

footprints in india: Sikandra

My seven-day journey in India, covering the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and a small village town at the foot of the Himalayas, Pawalgarh. It wasn't before long that I reached Sikandra, the burial place of the third great Murghal Emperor. Jayant said I needn't go in, so I didn't have plans to. But when I stepped out of the car, the tour guides had other plans. From the exterior, I took these photos of the tomb. Another grand architecture. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Arga and The Red Fort of Agra.

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. This is Home - Truly. National Day has just passed and although I wasn't one of the thousands at Marina Bay celebrating, the pride of being a Singaporean radiated more strongly than ever before in my 32 years of being one. But having travelled so many cities had made me appreciate the life I have in Singapore, and truly, each time I come back home, passing through the immigration counters, I whisper to myself, "This is home, truly.". A man who sat besi...

Thoughts from a starfish. EMBRACING LIFE WITH WORDS. Back to the doctors. My stomach didn't feel too good today, plus I woke up with a fever. So I went down to the doctor with my brother, who has been having a fever since Sunday. The doctor suggested we got mosquito repellents in our house, just in case. And so we did. I hope the fever goes away for myself and my brother, so that we know it's nothing too serious to worry about. I don't know what happened this week, but it got me down with a bad bout of g...

footprints in india: Trip to MI Road
http://indiastarfish.blogspot.com/2007/03/trip-to-mi-road.html
My seven-day journey in India, covering the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and a small village town at the foot of the Himalayas, Pawalgarh. Trip to MI Road. The Roads of Jaipur. I figured, if I were to get stuck in the rain, I might as well be stuck in a shop I could do some browsing in! I left the shop since the storm had faded into a drizzle. I walked fast towards where Lakhbir parked his car just in case it decided to rain again. I wouldn’t want to be caught in another shop! That stopped me in my trac...
