Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Thoughts on my first sail. Yee freakin haa, how cool are these boats! I just got back from my very first sail in an IC. It was my AUS 33 "Magic Carpet Ride" and it was her very first sail too. I was stoked with how it went! All in all a great session of sailing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jethrow's IC page: May 2009

Sunday, May 24, 2009. A god's eye view. I spent today figuring out and screwing on fittings. I was all set to do the carriage tracks until I realised that the carriage has to be totally finish as once it's it won't come off (it hits the rudder post before it leaves the track, Doh). I've only drilled six holes in the wrong spot so considering how many holes I've drilled, it's not too bad. Friday, May 22, 2009. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Saturday, May 16, 2009. Tuesday, May 5, 2009. ACA Sailing Canoe Instructions - DIY: 4) Boom
http://canoesailing.blogspot.com/p/4-boom.html
ACA Sailing Canoe Instructions - DIY. Instructions to build you own ACA class open sailing canoe. Make a boom from 25 x 50 mm wood. Pinewood is great for purpose because it is strong enough and light. Use good quality wood without knots. The same wood you can be used for gaff. Leave other side of the boom straight. Straight side comes against the sail sleeve. Measure position of the gooseneck (dimension X) when the gaff is attached to boom and sail is mounted. Hole size of 8 mm is good for ropes.
