Intermission: Winding down, winding up. But then there's the food!
http://intermission-jeff.blogspot.com/2010/07/winding-down-winding-up-but-then-theres.html
Mid life opportunity beckons. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Winding down, winding up. But then there's the food! This five month break is winding down. I go back to work in five days. Five days! Less than a week. I could get philosophical about this. And maybe I will. But not now. Right now, I just want to enjoy the memories. And transition. Intermission is ending, but I'm gearing up some other exciting activities on my other blog, Improbable Pantry. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Isle sur la sorgue.
Intermission: July 2010
http://intermission-jeff.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Mid life opportunity beckons. Sunday, July 18, 2010. Act 2 - The Curtain Rises. Five months and 10 days. A good run. A good rest. A good adventure. A good period of self reflection. Making friends. Trying new food. Spending time with Susan. Traveling. And it comes to an end tomorrow. I go back to work. I'd gotten so used to NOT going to work. When we were traveling, sometimes Susan and I would look at each other and proclaim, "What have we done? Or "Are we really doing this? Just Give Me a Project. I'm 5...
Intermission: June 2010
http://intermission-jeff.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Mid life opportunity beckons. Saturday, June 12, 2010. Boston, as Visitor. Bottom line - a decent start, but still a long ways to go. There were stretches that were wide open without a whole lot to recommend them. This section here was filled in some more with attractive landscaping, and a cool (pun intended) misting fountain. About how there soon will be many more vendors in the square. Here's hoping that the food attracts and keeps more people to the Greenway. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mid life opportunity beckons. Monday, August 29, 2011. Intermission - the Book. Sam asked, "How long did it take to make this book? Answer: "Over a year." Weve been back over a year. Improbable Pantry: November 2010
http://improbablepantry.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tantalizing meals from humble beginnings. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Kabocha Squash Spread with Homemade Crackers. I recently discovered the wonders of kabocha squash. So the next time I was at the market I picked one up. (Since it was at the HMART, I guess I can cross post to Asian Fling). Last time the texture when roasted was like a sweet potato, so I had the idea to mash it into something spreadable. After which I had the idea to make something to spread it on, like homemade crackers. To be easy and...
Improbable Pantry: October 2010
http://improbablepantry.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Tantalizing meals from humble beginnings. Friday, October 1, 2010. Grab it and go - what do I do with this Kabocha Squash? Susan asked, "what's for dinner? I answered, "leftovers." She looked sad. I poked around a bit, and eyed the kabocha, sitting in the fruit basket. Next Tiny Urban Kitchen. Seems I'd heard of that blog, but had never read it. The first line of the post Oven Roasted Kabocha Squash. Said, "It's official. I love love love kabocha squash. It's like candy for me." Voila. I know that there ...
Improbable Pantry: The Two Lost Years
http://improbablepantry.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-two-lost-years.html
Tantalizing meals from humble beginnings. Wednesday, July 9, 2014. The Two Lost Years. I posted on July 4, 2012. And then again on July 2, 2014. Two years with no posts. I had good intentions, but then two years slipped away. I didn't stop cooking and I didn't stop taking pictures. There were some good dishes in there, some more memorable than others. There's zero chance that I'll write about these pictures, but I might be inspired to try some of them again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Improbable Pantry: March 2011
http://improbablepantry.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tantalizing meals from humble beginnings. Saturday, March 26, 2011. It's probably bad form to cross post between my two blogs, but this one deserves to be on both sites. Follow my newest exploration with kabocha squash. Labels: Improbable Pantry Asian Fling. Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Have you been posting to your blog lately? Dunno What have you been doing instead? Funny how one can get out of the habit. But a 3 month hiatus deserved some attention. Perhaps a little daydreaming. What's in the freezer?
Improbable Pantry: Late Summer Corn and Tomato Alternative -- Soup but not Chowder
http://improbablepantry.blogspot.com/2015/09/late-summer-corn-and-tomato-alternative.html
Tantalizing meals from humble beginnings. Thursday, September 24, 2015. Late Summer Corn and Tomato Alternative - Soup but not Chowder. There are only so many times you can have fresh farm stand corn cooked gently on the grill served naked without butter or salt because it's so sweet just by itself, accompanied by a simple plate of heirloom tomatoes harvested from the garden, perhaps with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper and a topping of chopped. An abundance of sage! Corn and Tomato Soup. Salt and pe...

Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling: Kimchi crisis in Korea
http://improbablepantry-asian.blogspot.com/2010/11/kimchi-crisis-in-korea.html
Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling. Exploring the culinary wonders of the other side of the planet. Sunday, November 14, 2010. Kimchi crisis in Korea. That are available. As a result, kimchi is in short supply. It's usually served free of charge as a side dish at every meal in Korea, but that's changing. Me - I'd be happy switching to green onion or radish. But it seems that in Korea, the napa cabbage variety is king. And this: "Though the mouth-scorching dish can be readily bought in stores, many people ma...

Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling: December 2010
http://improbablepantry-asian.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling. Exploring the culinary wonders of the other side of the planet. Saturday, December 4, 2010. Kimchi Pancake - Another Revelation. So here’s the deal. It’s a savory pancake. And I’m not sure I’ve ever had a savory pancake. Just like I’d never had savory oatmeal for breakfast. I’d never even thought of a savory pancake. By now, kimchi stew has become part of my normal repertoire. Susan loves it. Works with whatever I have in the house. Seems to be a theme here. Cook on mediu...

Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling: Experimenting again -- Grilled eel with portobellos and scallions
http://improbablepantry-asian.blogspot.com/2011/04/experimenting-again-grilled-eel-with.html
Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling. Exploring the culinary wonders of the other side of the planet. Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Experimenting again - Grilled eel with portobellos and scallions. So I didn't need much. Mushrooms were calling my name. As were scallions, not just as a flavoring, but as a full throttled vegetable. Brown rice as a bed to lay it on. Done. This is so easy it doesn't warrant a recipe. But go find one of those eels and see what else you can do with it. Once I eat down the content...I've ...

Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling: Kabocha squash revisited
http://improbablepantry-asian.blogspot.com/2011/03/kabocha-squash-revisited.html
Improbable Pantry - Asian Fling. Exploring the culinary wonders of the other side of the planet. Saturday, March 26, 2011. After my first exploration with kabocha squash. I've repeated the same formula over and over: cut into slices, roast with olive oil. Eat. A little variation entered the lexicon when I turned it into an appetizer spread. It sounded like just the thing- similar to what I'd done before, yet different enough to warrant some excitement. Since I don't have perfect slicing skills, some part...

What others have said. My name is Laurence Gamlen. I am an experienced ordained minister in the Church of England who thrives on nurturing faith, as well as seeing individuals released in their service of God and of others. Church ministry is both fulfilling and demanding, and unless we take care it can become all consuming and draining. It is important that every now and again we push the pause button and stop to draw breath, review and reconnect with God's unique call for each one of us.

May I See Your Face?
Niedziela, 24 czerwca 2012.
