Not all who wander are lost -j.r.r. tolkien. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Rail tripping: hiking at tegernsee. May 4, 2015. After we’d decided that we wanted to take more trips to the mountains, we made the next logical decision to say that we’d also like to. In the mountains. With that in mind, we invested in some good hiking boots. Again, on a Sunday afternoon, we headed out from Munich to another place within an hour away. Continue reading →. A peek at what i'm up to.

the smiths: Dallin- 7 Months
http://mattkellyesmith.blogspot.com/2014/02/dallin-7-months.html
Lilypie First Birthday tickers. Wednesday, February 5, 2014. I swear it is harder and harder to believe the number I type in every month. SEVEN months? We've had this little gem of a guy around for 7 months already? But then, you can tell he really isn't a little baby anymore, which means he must be doing the inevitable- getting older. He eats 3 jars of baby food everyday and usually some oatmeal too. His interest in bottles decreases daily, but he still manages to eat about 5 a day. He loves books but i...

The Cast of Characters. Monday, April 13, 2015. We're still waiting on that baby to arrive! Us at Duke Gardens. While we wait, Jessie just put the finishing touches on our nursery. She's done a wonderful job of putting together a charming room. I especially like the John O'Donohue. Quote that she painted, which is a excerpt from a larger paragraph:. We refinished two pieces of my grandparent's old furniture for just over $90, turning one into a changing table and keeping another as a chest of drawers.

Lilypie First Birthday tickers. There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, December 12, 2013. So BOM-RAT. What's that all about? Let me tell you. It's the abbreviation for "Book of Mormon Read-a-Thon". We are planning one for next Friday with the Young Women in our ward. We will read the entire Book of Mormon in a mere 24 hours. Is it possible? Us awake. Like a lot of outside help to come and read to them. Like an awesome host family who is willing to turn their house over to a bunch of teenage...I lov...

He enjoys reading, studying ancient history, watching college football, playing board games. Daydreaming about visiting other countries, and camping/hiking/being outside. The Cast of Characters. Thursday, July 2, 2015. Two Months With Brid. A roundup of photos and videos from the last few weeks, with our now 2-month old baby. Very happy to be rolling over. Your baby is styling when the socks match the diaper. She loves to lie on her play mat, kick the supports, and watch the animals shake. Brid also likes to be bounced on a large exercise ball, and dad likes to watch Roman history documentaries, so we often combine those things. It makes us both happy. Welcome to our blog!
Jessie and Andrew: February 2015
http://jessieandandrew.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
The Cast of Characters. Saturday, February 28, 2015. That story must surely be in the Bible. Jessie and I took a day trip over to the chapel at Duke University. It was a lovely building, and with its size, its neo-gothic architecture, and its little chapels and crypts it almost felt like being back in Europe. A memorial chapel off one of the transepts. Looking at all the stained glass, I thought about a scene from the movie. Whatever condition of life a person finds themselves in, they can usually find s...

The Cast of Characters. Sunday, July 19, 2015. There's just something so distinctive about the U.S. East Coast.I always f. Eel like I'm in a different world, filled with boardwalks and old history. Jessie and I have loved every North Carolina beach that we've been to, including our short trip to Topsail Island. All in all it was a great couple of days, and it was hard to come back to Raleigh! Tuesday, July 14, 2015. It was great to see friends, and baby Brid did really well on her first overnight trip.
Jessie and Andrew: August 2015

The Cast of Characters. Friday, August 21, 2015. Today I read some of Pliny the Younger. S letters, written during his time as a Roman governor almost 1900 years ago. I had one of those moments when the ancient world felt incredibly close to home. One of Pliny's letters described how he went hunting, but found the time equally well spent thinking and reflecting:. Walks the hills no less than Diana. The people of the past were different from us, but they still loved, grieved, worshipped, schemed, gossiped...

Travel, food and family adventures. Saturday, August 1, 2009. Product Review: Natural Mineral Makeup. Anyway. (as I step off my soap box) Surprisingly enough, Bare minerals (which I've worn for quite some time) is not all natural. I thought I'd try to find something with less fillers and chemical and more natural stuff in general. I read about 2 companies that provide 100% natural and also partial, if not completely, organic ingredients: Glam- Nation and Afterglow. I didn't buy it. I moved on to Afterglo...

Not all who wander are lost -j.r.r. tolkien. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. The longest castle in the world. January 30, 2017. Yes, really, this is one castle. Up on the hill in the small Bavarian town of Burghausen, which lies on the Salzach River on the German-Austrian border. A picture of the entire castle obviously required the panorama setting on my camera. This is a view of the castle with the town below it taken from the Austrian side of the Salzach. Inside the main courtyard.
