the great adventures of the Islander and the Duck.: November 2007

http://www.islandduck.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Ready for an Outing. Here we are getting ready for a quick trip outside. Our neighbor was kind enough to loan us her baby carrier (her 3 kids have just outgrown it), and we used it this morning to take the dogs for a walk. The hat made the trip even more fun! And here we are engaging in our most typical activity, relaxing! She loves to sleep on our stomachs, with her arms draped over us in an adorable little "hug.". Friday, November 23, 2007. the great adventures of the Islander and the Duck.: January 2008

http://www.islandduck.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Working Hard and Playing Hard. Little Mad has been coming to work with her mommy (at the suggestion of her very compassionate boss.) So far it has gone really well, with only one bad day in about the last four weeks. This is a picture of her set up in my office (she's relaxing and enjoying her mobile after getting a fresh diaper). She really enjoys staring at it for minutes on end (nothing holds her attention for a. Monday, January 21, 2008. My folks came over for Christmas f...

the great adventures of the Islander and the Duck.: Paris Encore

http://www.islandduck.blogspot.com/2008/08/paris-encore.html

Monday, August 4, 2008. Ok, so maybe I had a little too much wine, but either way how many of you can say you dressed up as Borat and ran along side the Peloton at Le Tour de France? As you may have surmised by now, we recently took what may very well be our last trip (for a while at least) to Paris. We went with the intention of seeing the final stage of "The Tour" but the gods had something else in mind for the Trainor Clan. The Ladies taking in the sites. Laid some fowers for Jim and took in the tower.

the great adventures of the Islander and the Duck.: July 2008

http://www.islandduck.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 8, 2008. The summer just keeps getting better. In lieu of celebrating Independence Day the "traditional" way, we decided instead to get irie at the Summerjam Reggae fesitval in Cologne, Germany. We camped with nearly 25,000 other folks who gathered together to listen to some great music and pass the uh, ehm, good vibes to one another. We set up the beach shade in the grass at the back of the seating area and took in the tunes. The heat was on so it was time to take a few layers off.

Okawari!!: May 2007

Friday, May 25, 2007. This is a photo of EL in his bathrobe. It is still pretty big, so he will get to use it for a while! EL really likes being in the bathtub. He floats in the tub and soon after, his eyes start to close. He does not completely fall asleep, but seems like he is very relaxed. As Papa would say, "he is relaxing on the beach! Posted by Just the Three of Us at 10:27 AM. Tuesday, May 22, 2007. EL has been going out for short walks, but he just can't stay awake! Thursday, May 17, 2007. Posted...

Okawari!!: December 2006

http://mamechan.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 29, 2006. In Japan, it is very common to eat chicken and a cake on Christmas. A lot of people buy chicken from KFC. Even if you made a reservation there, you still have to wait in line to receive your order. If you didn't make a reservation, you would probably have to wait for half an hour to an hour. Isn't that interesting! We had a Christmas party at home with sushi, chicken (of course! From KFC, and Christmas cake! We opened our presents by our little fake Christmas tree. Last visit t...

Thursday, November 23, 2006. Big Fat and Stubborn. These guys all wear mawashi. The looks like a giant diaper or maybe underwear. I guess it Depends. These giant diapers are usually gifts from their biggest fans because it would be pour form to buy them themselves. Anyway, that's the sumo lesson for the day. At that, I leave you with this picture of a pet store in Kichijoji. Posted by Just the Three of Us at 12:23 AM. Sunday, November 19, 2006. We haven't written much in. Our life in Tokyo and Portland.

How does Papa taste? Posted by Just the Three of Us at 8:16 AM. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. The baby (EL)'s first visitor was Grandma-D from the U.S. We were very happy to have her here so she could enjoy her first grandchild. Since she had gone back, EL misses her and crys lots. :(. Thursday, March 29, 2007. Look at how huge Mama is! It's her 39th week and the doctor really thinks the baby is coming soon. She made a similar comment last week, so it's hard to say, but maybe. The baby is almost 3 kgs (6.6 lbs), and his head is coming down. Posted by Just the Three of Us at 9:00 AM. Tuesday, March 20, 2007. Our baby is going to be the third one to use this bed. Saturday, June 30, 2007. EL smiles many times throughout his day. Last week, he made a little bit of laughing noise as he smiled, too! This is his new outfit that one of Mama's friends sent to him. It's called "jinbei." Mostly men wear jinbei during the hot summer days. A lot of them wear it especially when they go to festivals or go see fireworks on summer nights. Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Lots of stuff has arrived. We have ordered lots of baby items, such as baby bedding, baby clothes, etc. from one of the biggest baby supply stores and a couple of boxes were delivered yesterday. Now it really feels like we are getting ready to have our boy. :) We will probably set his bed pretty soon. As we are preparing, Mama is becoming bigger day by day! Is the baby really going to grow more in her tummy? Posted by Just the Three of Us at 3:08 PM. Monday, February 19, 2007.

Monday, July 30, 2007. EL loves weekends since he gets to be around Papa. He only gets to see Papa in the morning and at night just for a little bit during weekdays since Papa is busy working. Last weekend, he was watching a movie with Papa. Mama had to take this picture because they looked so cute together. :) BUT Mama says, "don't watch too much TV! In the spirit of Japan. Click on each frame to enlarge. Posted by Just the Three of Us at 12:41 AM. Tuesday, October 03, 2006.
