Southern Hospitality in the Last Frontier

Sunday, September 8, 2013. End of Summer Blogtacular! There has been a disturbing lack of bloginizing for the last several weeks. I blame the heat. It's definitely not any sort of laziness on my part! Only the most glorious Ketchikanian summer in recent memory could tear me away from filling up page after page with the minutia of our lives. Of July (pronounced Joo-Lie) celebrations- parade, booths, party and watching fireworks at Amy’s. Rented a boat from Knudson Cove (the Bearlin. J and C vacation- ferr...

Southern Hospitality in the Last Frontier: May 2010

http://jamesandcarolynblog.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 15, 2010. Carolyn and I are big readers. Ever since childhood we've both had a deep love for books. I can't tell you how many times we've started conversations with: "Remember that book? We read a lot of the same books when we were kids and have fond memories of reading with our parents. When it comes to personal taste we agree on children's books and many of the classics, but beyond that. saying that our tastes vary wildly might be an understatement. I know, crazy right? I have an amazing ...

Southern Hospitality in the Last Frontier: It BURRNSS!!

Sunday, June 16, 2013. It has been a beautiful weekend! It seems like such a shame that we have to go to work tomorrow. Oh well, until Ed McMahon comes knocking on my door with an extra large check (so it can hold all those zeros) I guess it's back to the grind. (Update: Apparently Mr. McMahon passed away almost four years ago.yeah.anyone know who is delivering overwhelmingly large amounts of money these days? Please give him/her my name.). Southern Hospitality in the Last Frontier: February 2013

http://jamesandcarolynblog.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 25, 2013. Making a marriage work. So we've been doing this marriage thing for well over four years. Almost four and a half, but who's counting? It's a crazy, beautiful adventure and I recommend it highly! Other areas required a little bit of compromise. We've settled on the use of smooth peanut butter (she leans toward crunchy, but enjoys both), 1% milk (she liked skim, I was a 2% man), and the exclusive use of turkey bacon (it's not the same, but it's healthier. *sigh*). No, not really.

Southern Hospitality in the Last Frontier: Thunder!

http://jamesandcarolynblog.blogspot.com/2013/05/thunder.html

Monday, May 27, 2013. Mark this date on the calendar. May 27th, 2013. The day of the Thunderstorm! It probably doesn't seem that exciting to anyone else, anywhere else.but around these parts it's big news! The last thunderstorm I recall here in Ketchikan was March 2004. Over nine years ago! I was outside grilling the traditional Memorial Day cheeseburgers when I heard it: THUNDER! I took a ton of pictures, very few of which turned out, and none of which captured any lightning! Here comes the BOOOOOM!

Thursday, August 26, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ketchikan, Alaska, United States. James is a true Alaskan, born in Petersburg, AK a very long time ago (1978! Growing up, he lived in North Dakota, Oregon, and even spent a few years in 2 different Alaska Native villages. In 1992, his family moved to Ketchikan and he has been here for about 16 years (minus a few years in Canada for College). We first met in February 2007 but he doesn't remember! Our blog about life, love, and baby drool. August 24, 2011. In her art and crafts class today, their assignment was to draw pictures of themselves and their friends. This picture is of Ada and her friend "Ava with the yellow hair". Her new teachers were very impressed with her art skills. They were also impressed that she could write her name. I thought you would all like to see this.and yes, I am keeping this one for our fridge. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). We are still here! View my complete profile.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15. Monday, July 6, 2015. Happy 2 Months Luke. Luke turns 2 months old today. It still amazes me that he has been with us for 2 months and has brought so much joy to our lives. Luke has done many "firsts" in his 2 months of life. He had his first beach trip, first trip to church, first day at daycare started today, first trip out of Mississippi, and first trip to many restaurants that we love. Monday, July 06, 2015. End of Summer Blogtacular!

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Update on Luke and Will. Luke and Will have been busy with daycare and life. Life has been busy in general but I wouldn't have it any other way. This past weekend the cousins came in from Memphis and Will had a blast playing with them all. We went swimming and cooked out at our house. Nannie and Papaw even took on the task of keeping all 4 of them Saturday night. We thought they were crazy but they surviv...Just a pi...

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15. Saturday, March 28, 2015. 32 weeks, what can I say? Thank goodness for Doug who has been helping so much with Will. I couldn't do it without him. I literally have a wild and crazy 3 year old that loves to play, play all the time. Full of life doesn't describe Will these days. I honestly don't know how I can describe him other than a wild bambino. Nursery is done and Luke's hospital clothes are just about packed. Saturday, March 28, 2015.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15. Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Mary and John are expecting a baby in January 2015 and this past Saturday they had a gender reveal party and revealed to us Baby Stewart's gender. They had a BaByQ and sent invitations telling us to wear PINK or BLUE based on what we thought Baby Stewart was. My guess was PINK all along and so was the guess of the majority of the people there. The box that held the BIG NEWS. All indications it's a GIRL. So we took on...

Down on the Farm!

Down on the Farm! Here's what's been going on in Winnie, TX. Sunday, August 14, 2011. When Rachel and Wayne were down this summer we wanted to take pictures in the rice field. It was too bright that day but we got a cute picture anyway. Although the grandchildren are squinting from the sun, you can see the love in thier Paw Paw's face. And they are standing in a field that was the best field of rice James ever cut. What a great memory. Monday, August 8, 2011. Rice Harvest Time Again. Sunday, June 5, 2011.
