Monday, February 5, 2018. It's highly likely that I say this a lot, but as an endurance athlete patience is absolutely critical. If your "A" race isn't until the fall and right now you're worried about an upcoming event that is - likely - a single sport event, your concern is misplaced. Focus on the big things, not all the little things. But, if you are patient (and your stroke doesn't suck or get worse), the speed will come. Also, as a human patience is critical. What do I want? James Haycraft: A state TT title, among other awesomeness

http://jameshaycraft.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-state-tt-title-among-other-awesomeness.html

Wednesday, June 19, 2013. A state TT title, among other awesomeness. S - 18,900 yards. B - 170.4 miles. R - 25.4 miles. Time - 17.46 hours. Most of this week was just a preamble to the weekend (is that not the way it usually works out? Blah blah blah swimming, biking, running, sleeping, working, etc. Then, awesome ensued. On to the recap (yayyyy). Yes, that is a Porsche GTsomething.(3? At this point I had basically passed everyone that started in front of of me within about 3 or 4 minutes. But I saw ...

James Haycraft: More racing with more placing

http://jameshaycraft.blogspot.com/2015/06/more-racing-with-more-placing.html

Wednesday, June 24, 2015. More racing with more placing. I always like to include a clever tag-line in my blogs. Something to draw you in and maybe say "Wow, that guy - he is a clever one! Just enough (but probably said to yourself, quietly) to get you to click and read. Sometimes, in an even more devious fashion, I like to put something in at the end that makes you remark and potentially comment so I know people ARE actually reading the whole thing! This is obviously not always true, but for the most pa...

James Haycraft: XTERRA Whitewater Triathlon

http://jameshaycraft.blogspot.com/2015/07/xterra-whitewater-triathlon.html

Monday, July 20, 2015. I can't lie, I've been pretty excited about this race for a while now. There are several reasons for this unbridled race excitement:. 1) Home course advantage (huge in XTERRA). 2) Sleeping in own bed (huge in general). Ok I lied I could only come up with two. BUT, those are two huge reasons to be excited for a race! From there we would hop on our bikes and basically ride the Whitewater Center in order, from Figure 8 through all of North Main then into the South section of trails do...

James Haycraft: Bio

http://jameshaycraft.blogspot.com/p/bio.html

I've been lucky enough to play sports my entire life. Through eighth grade it was soccer, flag football, baseball and in high school it shifted to become golf. I was lucky enough to be pretty good at a lot of different sports but not especially good at one in particular (well, unless you count building legos! I was OBSESSIVE about golf (kind of like with triathlon now! And started getting a little more serious. I still rode in a mix of spandex shorts and regular shorts with t-shirts and mountain bike...

James Haycraft: Challenge Williamsburg

http://jameshaycraft.blogspot.com/2015/06/challenge-williamsburg.html

Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Challenge Williamsburg half distance triathlon was set to be my first long course race of the year. As such, I was nervous about it. There are several reasons for this:. 1) 4 hours of racing is a long time. 2) Follow up of #1, the first time in a season has some unknowns. 3) It was going to be really warm. 4) I hadn't ridden my tri bike for 56 flat, straight miles since Miami last October. Be that as it may, Jenny. 41mpg with 2 people, 2 bikes (1 on top), and gear. #Diesel.

seriously hope: Run All the Miles - Marine Corps Marathon 2012

http://seriouslyhope.blogspot.com/2012/11/run-all-miles-marine-corps-marathon-2012.html

A chronicle of mis-adventure within the world of running and triathlon. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Run All the Miles - Marine Corps Marathon 2012. Four weeks ago, I did something I thought I would never do in a million years. No, I did not eat liver mush with pimento cheese (ick. No offense my southern friends, but I can safely say this will never happen in a gazillion batrillion quadrillion millenion years). I ran a marathon. The Marine Corps Marathon to be exact. Did I really do that? This is where ...

No Limits: Lessons from Ironman Training

http://loloack.blogspot.com/2014/09/lessons-from-ironman-training.html

The Journey to my first Ironman. Sunday, September 21, 2014. Lessons from Ironman Training. I recently looked back to the first blog that I wrote "Hey Look I have a Blog" the Top 10 reasons someone may sign up for an Ironman. This got me thinking about some of things I've learned while training for an Ironman. I was originally going for 10 and it just grew from there. I could probably include many more and of course many more pictures, but I had to stop somewhere and bedtime was calling! 4 It may have ta...

Top 10 things that will convince me to sign up for an Ironman! 2 An Ironman Buddy. Tara. Crohn's disease and ulce...

Laquo; It was a PB Type Weekend. Asics DS Trainer 18. Ouch, This Hurts. A lot Don’t try it at home, trust me. What is this? Crashing your bike. The Asheville camp was in full swing and going great. Other’s have written about it. Warren Wilson College has a pretty sweet aquatics center with dry erase boards already built into the wall. Awesome! So what’s so painful about 2.5 hours of swimming? Campers at the top of the climb. Then on Highway 80 coming around a right hand turn I see Heath. 8221; I think I ...

The Journey to my first Ironman. Monday, August 25, 2014. 32 days until we DO THE CHOO! I feel really bad that I have neglected the blog the last 2 months. The problem is that I've been really busy. Busy training! News Flash: Ironman training is incredibly time consuming. There are certainly ways to make it less time consuming, but I may only have one shot at this beast so I want to give it all I've got. Http:/ www.active.com/donate/IMchattanoogaCCFA14/IRONMANLAckerm. Partners & Supporters. Schedule & Results. Generic Update on 2014. October 30, 2014. I feel the need to post something after discussing with Emily. Why all triathletes feel the need to have a website, the value of it, what her goals should be, etc etc. Anyway, figured now might be a good time to check on this ol’ bad boy, which has been dormant for pretty much the entire season. That’s okay though, because I’ve been doing a pretty okay job documenting my athletic accomplishments via Twitter. R: 205 unkno...

http://seriouslyhope.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

A chronicle of mis-adventure within the world of running and triathlon. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Found on themetapicture.com. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. It happened to Jenn, my sister-in-law, too. Then my niece, Jordyn, and now my big brother, Les. My nephew, Adam, was already a runner; but he's joined in the family too. This past weekend, Jenn did her first sprint triathlon while Les and Adam joined Jenn's swim coach for some relay fun; Les on two wheels and Adam on two feet. How strange and fitting that...

No Limits: May 2014

http://loloack.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

The Journey to my first Ironman. Wednesday, May 28, 2014. As we went to bed Saturday night the forecast for Sunday morning was showing 100% rain for the entire morning. I worried the entire ride that Tara was furious with me for convincing her to ride. The weekend did not turn out as planned, but the TriCoachGeorgia group planned an awesome "free" training camp for us. I know a lot of work went into planning the weekend and I am so thankful for the experience they provided us. Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
