I enjoy creating unusual experiences and exploring peculiar concepts. A suite of audio-responsive drawing machines. More info ». An ongoing project, Physical Echoes is an interactive installation that explores the transitory nature of sound by creating a real-time, physical output. The current iteration of the piece uses three bespoke drawing machines to create marks on paper in response to sounds made by observers. Growing up in Nottingham, I was obsessed with music from an early age. I played as much of it as I could as a teenager, including glam rock, traditional folk, jazz fusion, and hip-hop. Discovering the joys of recording and production, I caught the technology bug and studied Creative Music Technology at the University of Hull. Since then I’ve created much more than just music, including instruments, installations, robotic sculptures, web-based art, and more. Programme centred around arts and technology.

The Continuing Journey Of A Media Lab: I Went To A Media/Art Lab And All I Got Was This Lousy Tote Bag. I just received a shiny book of pictures of people at Digital Media Labs 2015. And thought it timely to reflect on this brilliant project and on the artist lab in general. I’ve a funny relationship with using the term lab. We were over in Bolton last weekend at All Souls. A converted church, now used as offices, a conference space, and a community arts and learning centre. Travelling over as part of MadLab’s MAKE STUFF. Series of technology and arts events, James. Ran another Awkward Arduino.
