Friday, February 24, 2012. So I picked up an Arbour Vitae Bird of Paradise flying carpet yesterday. Fast and highly responsive. This model year corrected last year's unfortunate tendency to flip over while flying close to the ground (tending to result in nasty smears). Took it for a test drive before we closed the deal. Does 80 MPH hugging the medina alleys. Dodges donkeys, chickens and children brilliantly! Enough of that. I have my carpet. I paid too much. And I don't care. I like it. So let's try again.

Thursday, March 07, 2013. So yeah, liking Venice. I bought a 72 hour water bus (boat) pass when I arrived and I am abusing it. Short walk to the bridge or a boat ride? Ride Take the direct path to my hotel or the long way via the Grand Canal by boat. Ride. Now I just randomly jump on and see when it will take me. I think that is the best way to see a city. Randomly. Or have they found a workaround. Anyway I'm going to stroll down there and see how it looks. Posted by James at 10:04 AM.

Monday, March 04, 2013. The F in Florence stands for phlegm. But too many of my Florentine days were defined by Kleenex supply and nap time. My tourism productivity was about half what it should have been. But I enjoyed the place, despite the state of my health. A lemon chicken so perfect, I’ll futilely search the world for it again. Much like that chicken satay in Java. But even more, I’ll remember listening to the Ava Maria in the Piazza delgi Uffizi one shiveringly cold evening. And the big things.
