Annie's Adventures: 07.2009

Bike Tour Wrap Up. Overall the tour was incredible, and super challenging. I knew I could ride 1800 miles in two weeks, that was not the question. The question was how would I feel about it? So, here's some of the people I met. Then Dan and Brian. The father/son duo. Dan is so strong and Brian too. They were often quiet and kept to themselves, but they could hold their line and kept the pace reasonable when asked. They were steady. Then young Greg. Those eyes! Wow, he's going to be a heartbreaker when he...

Annie's Adventures: Bike Tour Day 14 Clayton
http://adventureannie.blogspot.com/2009/07/bike-tour-day-14-clayton.html
Bike Tour Day 14 Clayton. Today we rode the road the went on and on and on. We rolled out of Walsenburg extra early, at 6:00 am and the first 55 miles passed in a blink. It seems to do this every morning these days, we get 50 miles in and sort of ask ourselves, what just happened? Then the fun stopped. We got on the final road into Clayton, the John L. Morrow Memorial Highway, and we thought how grand, a 25 mph tailwind. We'll be in Clayton in no time! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bike Tour Wrap Up.

Annie's Adventures: Larch Mountain
http://adventureannie.blogspot.com/2009/08/larch-mountain.html
Today Craig organized a small group of friends to ride up Larch Mountain. I decided to drive over to Craig's house and ride from there in hope of getting the 20 extra miles in that will allow me accumulate exactly 5000 for the year. This year my annual ride year ends at the end of August and I need to ride about 190 miles a week until then to make 5000 miles. Anyway, while we were leaning our bikes up outside the shop the sun came out and we were instantly too warm. Off came the jackets, arm warmers ...

I recently went down to Lake Tahoe for The Death Ride. This is a crazy endurance event covering 129 miles and 15000' of climbing. We stayed at a condo at the base of one of the Heavenly resort ski lifts. There were 5 of us there, 4 of us doing the ride. There was lots of “what are YOU bringing with you” and “I can’t believe how old your bike is! I’m not sure I agree since I saw 3 women coming down the 5. And would probably never get worn. : ). Race for the Cure. Sunday morning. Race for the Cure 5K. Another downtown race that starts at an ungodly hour. But it's for a great cause! I was at the start line by 7:25 to race at 7:30. Along with 3,000 other people. And that was just in the first event. They estimated there were 46,000 participants in all the events making the Portland Race for the Cure the biggest on the west coast, and 4th largest in the country. Wow. To see what I actually ate for dinner. 22:52 / 7:22 pace. The rest of the way up i...

Last Sunday, on a whim, I signed up for the Run Like Hell 1/2 Marathon. Good lord, what was I thinking? Seriously, when the alarm went off at 5:30am, I did get out of bed, but quickly sat on the floor by my dresser drawer full of running clothes, and said to myself.no one will know if I don't do this race. No one will know! And I could just sleep in. Oh yes, beautiful sleep, maybe even with dreams. Oh please let me go back to bed. Two girls that would NOT shut up. So chatty! Going on and ON about everyon...

Annie's Adventures: Bike Tour Day 15 Amarillo
http://adventureannie.blogspot.com/2009/07/bike-tour-day-15-amarillo.html
Bike Tour Day 15 Amarillo. I rode hard for a bit trying to get past the tradgedy I just witnessed but the crosswinds and headwinds were picking up. Will they never end? I knew I just had to hang in there until the lunch stop where I had already made plans to get in the van for a ride back to the motel. And yet totally fascinating. I had a buffalo burger which was SO good, and we ordered two huge pieces of chocolate cake which were split between eight of us. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bike Tour D...

Annie's Adventures: Bike Tour Day 12 Buena Vista
http://adventureannie.blogspot.com/2009/07/bike-tour-day-12-buena-vista.html
Bike Tour Day 12 Buena Vista. The descent off the summit was awesome. We had a tailwind the entire way to Buena Vista which made the last 40 miles seem like a recovery ride. We rode past Twin Lakes and Mt. Elbert which I hiked up a few years ago as well, and I remembered seeing the Twin Lakes from the top and wondering what lay in that direction. Who knew I'd be riding that road a few years later? July 16, 2009 at 7:33 PM. I am posting other pics on Facebook. Do you have an account? Big views in Idaho.

Here is the tree for this year. Very similar to last year but with a few new ornaments c/o Jim. I love red. And I love it that this is going to be in my living room all lit up like this until the first week in January. Hooray for xmas! US Half Marathon Weekend. The next day we tried to get a tour of Alcatraz,. Race day was hard, in fact, this is the hardest 13.1 miles I've ever run. But the photos prove I had good form, and I appear to be having fun. After the race, we got cleaned up, went to a bar, and ...
