The rooms at base camp were cheap. Ours is the third from left. Preparing to leave Paradise Lodge parking lot (Elev. 5,400). As soon as we hit the trail it started snowing. It didn't stop until we hit Muir Camp five hours later. It's early enough that I can still manage a smile. Did I mention it was snowing? We were warned that lighting hazard was high due to the storm. The pictures on these pages were recovered from a digital camera that fell several hundred feet from the top of the Manic Depressive Direct route in September of 2002. Nearly a year after it's loss it was found in some bushes on a subsequent climbing trip. Despite spending the winter under snow, the memory card was still readable. The camera fared less well.
