http://jeffgilljourney.blogspot.com/2014/05/preparing-for-kakuma.html
A modest attempt to share my journey in life - to places geographical and spiritual. Saturday, May 10, 2014. Currently there are nearly 50,000 refugees from South Sudan's conflict in the camp, in addition to over 100,000 others from Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, the DR Congo, Burundi and Rwanda. It's a big place. Now, many of them are back. Since the outbreak of violence in the world's newest nation on December 15, 2013, South Sudanese have streamed across the border for safety. Thanks to JJ Kercher for her fabulous photos and the video here on YouTube. These were all taken at this year's Amahoro Gathering in Mombasa, Kenya. Great memories. Incredible people. Unforgettable stories. Inspiring ideas and creative ministry going on that give me hope - for Africa and for the world. Posted by Jeffrey Gill. Friday, May 7, 2010. The goat milk (real...
Jeff's Journey: April 2011

A modest attempt to share my journey in life - to places geographical and spiritual. Sunday, April 3, 2011. Haiti Journal - Day Six. Monday, January 24 - Up at 4 am, on the bus by 5 to go to Port au Prince. The 2 bour drive was filled with a combination of breathtaking beauty of mountains beyond mountains on the one hand - and hair-raising adventure as our driver barreled through people and vehicle-strewn streets and narrow alleys at speeds that would be criminal back home. George loved it! Harvard Medic...
Jeff's Journey: July 2009

A modest attempt to share my journey in life - to places geographical and spiritual. Monday, July 6, 2009. Earth, Sea, and Sky. I can certainly say that I have felt my own heart opened more fully to God through the beauty of creation, not only here, but in all that I have been experiencing in these past months. The pictures hardly do it justice, but I hope you'll enjoy them anyway. Posted by Jeffrey Gill. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Click on map to see locations of 2009 sabbatical travels represented here.
Jeff's Journey: February 2011
http://jeffgilljourney.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
A modest attempt to share my journey in life - to places geographical and spiritual. Saturday, February 12, 2011. Haiti Journal - Day Four. January 22, 2011 - I woke up late today - about 7 am. It's Saturday, and there are no rehearsals taking place outside my window. After our pancake breakfast we took an excursion with David Waters, a young engineer working here with Partners in Health for the past six months. We went down the pumping station that provides water up here. We. Dinner was a special spread...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Friday, November 7, 2014. By Nora Cook Smith. Some say a child never forgets its mother’s face, that somewhere in the corners of the mind her scent and the sound of her voice linger. Even if the child is torn from her at an early age. I do not know if that is true. My very first memories are as hazy as the fog that drifts through the bogs on a damp day. Sometimes I believe I see a man, equally tall, with a rough beard that tickles when my face is close to his. I’...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Saturday, July 2, 2011. 1 What would you change about the publishing industry if you had the power? 2 If you could change one thing about your favorite author's writing, what would that be? 3 If you read non-fiction, what/who do you like to read? 4 If you are a writer, do you have a muse? 5 Are you into e-books? If so, what source do you use to purchase them? 4 I used to have a muse. A grey and white cat named Paws. She used to stay near me while I wrote. N...I'm a wri...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Monday, November 16, 2009. Whether you are writing a book, a short story, a play, a pamphlet or even an office memo that won't get instantly relegated to the round file, how do you find the right words to grab your readers and compel them to keep reading? What is that mysterious something that makes them keep coming back for more? I wish creativity would just show up every time I sit down to work. I have to admit sometimes when I launch into a new chapter or story ...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. 2015 NY Flash Fiction Challenge. Location: Exclusive Country Club. A Change of Heart. Stebbins hated the aliens. They were too eager to share their culture, and that shape shifting trick, they found amusing, needed to stop. However they paid employees well. They could afford to. They had only appeared in the skies a short ten years ago, but now they owned the planet. He watched Zx in the rearview mirror. That tube thingy was in his ear again.

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Thursday, December 30, 2010. 2010 The Best American Mystery Stories? When did it happen? When did plot cease to be important in a mystery? And what now constitutes a mystery in the world of publishing? Maybe part of the problem with this particular compilation is where it draws from - a good number from literary magazines. Please. Literary magazines have their place, but that's not where I would go for a good mystery. Labels: Best American Mystery Stories. 2010 The Bes...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Sunday, October 30, 2011. THE EGGIES AND ME. I, who rarely watch commercials thanks to ways to block them and trips to the kitchen for snacks, recently fell victim to an entrancing Eggie commercial. Have you seen them? The promise of perfect boiled eggs without all the messiness of shelling them? When the timer went off, I had (5) Eggies and (1) rather sad looking hard poached egg. I could deal with that. Yes I could, until the remaining (5) took a stand for mo...Right...

Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Monday, November 29, 2010. What have I learned by participating in NANO? I really can make myself write when I don't feel any inspiration - NADA. Sometimes inspiration comes after I begin writing. It is possible to write a rough draft and not go back over it and edit it before moving on. I really am a self-absorbed person when I'm writing - probably not much fun to those around me who are picking up slack. Now that I am done, I can look back and say it was fun. Picture...
Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog: June 2010
http://noracooksmith.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Nora Cook Smith - An Author's Blog. Saturday, June 26, 2010. Wishin' and Hopin' by Wally Lamb. Since I wrote a book centering on Christmas, my eyes are always drawn to Christmas books by other authors. It's a morbid fascination. Did they do a better job than me? Will their book be made into a movie? How much will I love the book and wish I'd written it? I heartily recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I borrowed it from the library but I plan to buy a copy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The general who loses makes but few calculations beforehand. - Sun Tzu. In the ancient book The Art of War.
