JeffLivesHere: Category List
As of right now, blogger doesn't support categories. So I just made a buncha blogs, one for each category. To browse by a category, click on one of 'em below. I'll be categorizing earlier entries as time/desire permits, so not all entries will be labelled categorically for a while, and not all categories will have entries at first. Sunday, March 26, 2006. Monday, July 10, 2006. Yes Virginia, there Is Still Public Stoning of Women for 'Committing Adultery'. Go sign the petition to the UN to help keep yet another woman from being stoned to death:. I mean, stoning. Come the fuck on. It's bad enough that a woman can legally be punished for being raped, but for the punishment to be stoning. Do we really need to use ancient texts to tell us how to be "moral"? Is your morality that static? Can we not become more. Posted by Jeff Pollet at 6:02 AM. Looking for mor...

Thursday, July 20, 2006. I guess what I'm facing is that I'm hitting something of a wall as far as my progress visually goes- and that wall is making me feel more body (self-)conscous, not less. And again, that doesn't feel particularly healthy, emotionally. I've started to change my relationship to my body, and I'm not entirely happy with the new relationship. It may be too much of a change of lifestyle for me to really do it. Or maybe I'll do it slow and steady? Posted by Jeff Pollet at 7:03 AM. I have...

Thursday, May 18, 2006. My goal has never been to 'loose weight'. From the outset that just seemed like the wrong sort of goal to set; it buys into the various unhealthy attitudes about the body that I want to avoid. Which is not to say that the goals I do have (to feel healthier, to be healthier, to enjoy my body more, to feel more attractive- this is not an exhaustive list! The Way Things Have Shaped Up. Part of the effect is that I ended up just doing less exercising. Which isn't a bad thing neces...

JeffLivesHere: Pop Culture Edition. Friday, May 05, 2006. Happy Cinco de Mayo! Because I am such a gringo, even though I grew up in Lard. Here is some info stolen brazenly from Wikipidia:. Confident of a quick victory, 6,500 French soldiers marched on to Mexico City to seize the capital before the Mexicans could muster a viable defense. Along their march, the French already encountered stiff resistance before Zaragoza struck out to intercept the invaders. Posted by Jeff Pollet at 9:05 AM. They get worse ...

Sunday, April 30, 2006. Religious Does Not Equal Crazy Right Wing Hypocrite. It's hard to forget this sometimes, and I do have some strong intuitions about how deeply religious people can more often be crazy right wing hypocrites, but it's nice to know that I may very well be wrong in that intuition. Posted by Jeff Pollet at 12:47 AM. I Just. Don't. Get. It. How could somebody interpret this as 'egalitarian'? Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Posted by Jeff Pollet at 12:46 AM. Tuesday, August 22, 2006. Stepping Out of Crisis Mode. Part of this comes, I think, from the fact that I 'really was' in a crisis, about a year ago. I felt the rug o' life had been pulled out from under me; not only had my romantic relationship ended, but now I was faced with feeling abandoned by my ex as a friend, too (whether I was or not is up for debate, but it felt. One of the ways I decided to deal with my crisis (crises? The rat. I can see my emotional reactions, but I am also not only. Lived, so ...
