One Score and Thirteen: October 2008
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2008. It was just over a month ago that Brooke and I returned from a mini-vacation to, as the above photo's climate hints, Seattle. Besides being a relaxing long weekend in a new city, it was especially fun trip because most of the major expenses were covered by the good people at Evite.com. Back in January we used Evite to alert friends of a small gathering for the Super Bowl. As Brooke was sending the invitations (which included this gem. It did not disappoint. It was the sort of...

One Score and Thirteen: Sound Ad Vice
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2009/05/sound-ad-vice.html
Thursday, May 21, 2009. More fun in a recording studio. For the second time in the last few months, I had the opportunity to record some radio commercials for Old Style beer. The gig came through a fellow improvisor who knew someone at the agency handling the campaign. Several pals auditioned and were selected to read for different two-person spots. In reference to the beer's slogan. And "If I krausened this cooler, it would always be full of ice cold Old Style! I don't listen to the radio much, but I've...

One Score and Thirteen: Take Me Out
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2009/06/take-me-out.html
Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Last night was take 2 of a White Sox game. A group of improv friends went in on a block of tickets back in April but we were rained out. Yesterday's forecast called for storms all day and night but we got lucky. It was a brisk, perfect evening for Chicago baseball and the White Sox won. That's all I got. John P. Glynn. One Score and Thirteen: December 2008
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2008. I don't know if Steve launched first or what . but at some point I saw the quick flash of what, in the dream, I knew was a nuclear warhead detonating. We all just stared up waiting for a blinding mushroom cloud, which soon lit up the sky like we've all seen in movies. The next few seconds (which lasted minutes) are what prevented me from getting back to sleep. Or even just lay here starving to death? No joke, I remember laying there deliberating all this with a surprisingly cle...

Monday, June 30, 2008. I've had Dana as long as parents of seventh graders have had their kids and, God willing, hope to see him graduate from high school. As most dog owners will attest, there's nothing better than coming home from a bad day at work to the happy realization that somebody. Is glad to see you . even if it is just with the one good eye. John P. Glynn. Sunday, June 29, 2008. More birthdays. Again with the birthdays! Living most of your life in the same area where your immediate and (quite l...

One Score and Thirteen: August 2008
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 24, 2008. This weekend featured another opportunity to enjoy the calming powers of Lake Michigan. In all the summers since I moved back to Chicago in 1999, I don't recall spending as much time in or near the Lake as I have in the last several months. This time it was a day sail up the coast a bit from Michigan City, Indiana. My dad learned to sail years ago and has been chartering boats out of this harbor for the last several summers. All the way up there. John P. Glynn. If you've never se...

One Score and Thirteen: July 2008
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 28, 2008. Last weekend Brooke and I headed out of town for the placid settings of South Haven, Michigan after my aunt generously offered the use of her condo there. We both took half-day Fridays to get a jump on traffic and and could hardly wait to get away from the city for a few days. Unfortunately, a resilient strain of metropolitan stress remained in my system for a bit. The whole episode took. Fifteen minutes, but to be so close and feel so far away was agonizing. Just as my head wa...

One Score and Thirteen: Aaaaaannywhoooo ...
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2009/06/aaaaaannywhoooo.html
Monday, June 22, 2009. A year since I began this blog, summer finally arrived in Chicago, although the high temperatures are mere breaks in between thunderstorms. I realized as I was typing that sentence that it's probably a sign a blog has run its course when the posts (already few and far between) start talking about the weather. It's not that I haven't done enough interesting things worth writing about . I've just been too busy or too unmotivated to share them on the usual outlets. John P. Glynn.

One Score and Thirteen: March 2009
http://onescoreandthirteen.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 19, 2009. The hospitality of friends on our recent road trip inspired us. As of last night, the second bedroom went from a home office (the junk drawer of spare rooms) into a proper sleeping quarters for out-of-town visitors. It was a sweet sorrow, but I'm coping. Rest assured that more important items like my first Chicago apartment lease, a 2007 Sugar Bowl souvenir soda cup and bracelet ID from a Saturday Night Live. John P. Glynn. Tuesday, March 17, 2009.
