Observations from the Monkey House

Observations from the Monkey House. Monday, April 15, 2013. My city was hurt today. Photo not mine, taken from the recesses of Facebook. I haven't lived in Boston in years, and I suppose Townies would say that I never truly "lived in" Boston at all, but for five years in the '80s and '90s, yes, Boston was my home. I remember my Dad's love for the city when I was a kid (he went to school there for a time), his familiarity with it ("Nobody stops at that stop sign." "Dad, is he pulling us over? My heart goe...

Observations from the Monkey House: Merry Xmas? Happy Holidays!

http://jensmonkeyhouse.blogspot.com/2011/11/merry-xmas-happy-holidays.html

Observations from the Monkey House. Friday, November 25, 2011. I'm going to preface this post with an apology - I am the type of person who must have been a grade-school teacher in a past life. I have the propensity to be pedantic and want to correct people. I usually do squash that pretty well, or at least THINK I do, given the fact that people still seem to want to talk with me. :-). Oh And the annual rant from folks bitterly protesting the use of "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Xmas". So when I abbreviate ...

Observations from the Monkey House: September 2010

http://jensmonkeyhouse.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Observations from the Monkey House. Thursday, September 2, 2010. The Unofficial End of Summer. Or so they call Labor Day Weekend, anyway. So school's started once again, and the long, lazy days are getting shorter, and it's time to put the favorite summer things away in the attic. No, not the white pants (hell with the "rules" - I wear those all year round! But the things that just make summer what it is:. The tinny jingle of the ice cream truck (which unfortunately drives too fast down our street).

Observations from the Monkey House: October 2011

http://jensmonkeyhouse.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Observations from the Monkey House. Saturday, October 22, 2011. Taking Back the Blog. Wow Well, it's been over a year since I posted. It's time to take back the blog. So what has Jen been up to since September of last year? Funny how so much can change in that amount of time. If you'd told me I'd be where I am today, I'd tell you to quit mixing wine and cold medicine. But what's a story without plot twists, right? The big stuff first…. The not-quite-as-big-stuff now…. And oh-by-the-way, the Run to Rememb...

Observations from the Monkey House: December 2011

http://jensmonkeyhouse.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Observations from the Monkey House. Saturday, December 24, 2011. I was challenged to write a blog post before Christmas, and I'm cutting it pretty close. Story of a Procrastinator's life, huh? I had this long post half worked out about gifts and giving and suggested some alternatives to feeling like you NEED to find that something-or-other to check off a box, but since it's Christmas Eve, we're pretty much past that point, aren't we? I'll wrap that one up and dust it off next year. :-). I remember one Ch...

Observations from the Monkey House: Tough Love

http://jensmonkeyhouse.blogspot.com/2012/02/tough-love.html

Observations from the Monkey House. Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Anyway, it being February, I decided to pull out my Valentine's Day "Tough Love" CD. All songs have the word "Love" in the title, if not in the intent. A little something for everyone - the lovebirds and the disenchanted. And a good workout too. Win-win! So, before I post the profile, I should probably give you the "Jen to English" Spinning dictionary:. Seated, low resistance, higher cadence. Standing, out of the saddle. Seated climb with b...

http://sheermabness.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Why, it's Mabness! Sheer Mabness, I tell you! Thursday, February 02, 2012. This entry is going to involve the subject of. So those of you who have not the stomach/interest to read about such things, feel free to leave the room now, with no hard feelings. Don’t ask me any questions about how I feel about ‘x’ or ‘y’. And by the way? Sofor those who have had dealings with me this week and gone, “WTF? 8221;, I thank you for your fortitude. Y’all know who you are. And for those of you who have g...

SHEER MABNESS!: Standing Ovation

http://sheermabness.blogspot.com/2014/01/standing-ovation.html

Why, it's Mabness! Sheer Mabness, I tell you! Thursday, January 02, 2014. Yesterday, I found out that Mike Levine had passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack. My friend from the Canyon Theater Guild, whom I met so many moons ago through Robert (my husband at the time). It still doesn’t register as being true. Of course, this shocking news immediately floods your mind with all of the memories you have of this person from over the years. Let me tell you a little bit about Mikey. He never acknowledged hi...

SHEER MABNESS!: January 2012

http://sheermabness.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Why, it's Mabness! Sheer Mabness, I tell you! Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Watching human interplay is fascinating, riveting, even. It’s ever-changing, it’s beautifully alive, and it’s real. There’s no better theater. It’s where the magic lies. Monday, January 23, 2012. A Juggler's Work Is Never Done. I didn't know you were gone, Gina.". Yeah, I've been hibernating, laying low, not going out to shows or visiting many people. Why, you ask? That's changed, however. Now, here's where I normally need to stop a...

SHEER MABNESS!: May 2012

http://sheermabness.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Why, it's Mabness! Sheer Mabness, I tell you! Monday, May 28, 2012. It was the most natural thing in the world for me. I’ve applied to other places to do more modeling now, too. I want to do this while I grow Sparking The Muse. My advantage? Not a LOT of people are willing to take their clothes off in front of strangers, so there’s less competition for this kind of job. Yay! Just have to gig a lot to meet expenses. I’m also thinking of being a living statue at events, like Waterfire. Oh, absolutely YES!

SHEER MABNESS!: Where Is My Mind?

http://sheermabness.blogspot.com/2014/08/where-is-my-mind.html

Why, it's Mabness! Sheer Mabness, I tell you! Tuesday, August 05, 2014. Where Is My Mind? I have been on a fairly steady diet of Facebook lately. Multiple times a day. I’ve been the rat pressing the button to get the food pellets. Come on, dammit, COME ON! Show me something to blow my little mind! And my mind.is EXHAUSTED.I’ve been reading articles, watching videos, looking at pictures, reading status updates that have been shoved in front of my nose. Information deluge at 299,792,458 miles per second.

The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty: June 2012

http://poe-etry.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty. Monday, June 18, 2012. Thirdly, this blog has, up until now, been all from the Poly POV and I have little interest in being the Blog Curmudgeon. But if that all applied right now, you wouldn’t be seeing this, so what changed? So here I post. I don’t want to rehash the Mono/Poly articles that are on Franklin Veaux’s “Morethantwo” site (. Section 1: Potential pitfalls for the poly partner (Hooray for alliteration! You have discovered Polyamory and a light bulb has clicked...

The Pit: Le Coeur Noir

http://the-ravens-pit.blogspot.com/2012/01/le-coeur-noir.html

Saturday, January 21, 2012. Angus stood by the open door, his form framed by the light streaming in. She was there with him, wrapped in the embrace of his shadow, and crying again. "Please, please let me go." she pleaded while she wept, "I can't stay here any more.". Just a bit longer, Loren. You'll see. Just a bit longer.". No, please.I can't stay here. You promised to let me go, Angus. YOU PROMISED! Angus, please. I'm sorry. Let me make it up to you? Yes, Monster. Take me! The Light On Broadway.

The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. First Strokes with a Delicate Quill. I am polyamorous. Being so does not automatically make me anti-monogamous, just to keep that clear. I am enthusiastic about my choices, and I expect that some will be offended by my posts. I apologize in advance, as none of what I have to say should ever be taken as an attack on you or your views. The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty: All You Need

http://poe-etry.blogspot.com/2012/05/all-you-need.html

The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I was watching back episodes of “Bones” the other day, and a conversation came up between characters that intrigued me. 8221; Bones replies, “I’m at work, so I focus on work. We have to compartmentalize our lives.”. 8220;And you can do that? 8220;I have to.”. She receives a picture sent to her just then, and shows Angela, who says, “So is that all you need? 8221; Bones says, “I’ll see her soon enough.”. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Mommy Diaries

Monday, May 28, 2012. May started off busy! Ayden celebrated his summer birthday at school. I made whoopie pies to take for his birthday treats. Ayden got to wear a crown and blow out candles on a pretend cake. Joel was even able to take off work for a little while to come for treats at preschool. Of course a week after he did this we were scheduled to get family pictures taken by my friend. She's is amazing with Photoshop though so was able to take his black eye out :). Cael liked milking the cow. We we...

Friday, December 12, 2008. Naughty or Nice. You Decide! Monkeyboy loves the holidays. I had no idea what I was missing! Sitting there on the desk, I wondered what the hub bub was all about. The endless stream of candy, greeting cards and well wishers was somewhat of a mystery to me. Now I get it, and I am all for it. I love Santa. Did you know he gives FREE presents? Moore/Caldwell 2014-15

June 7, 2015. Dear folks at home,. We had a wonderful last week of school. In gardening with our 6th grade friends, we harvested over 50 pounds of potatoes we planted in the early spring and delivered them to our partners at Friendship Trays. Our service learning comes full circle when the children deliver trays filled with mashed potatoes to our friends at McCreesh Place. Amazing! Thank you, thank you for our beautiful piece of framed art from your children. It is spectacular! Streamside, May 2010.
