Tuesday, June 28, 2011. June 24, 2011 - It is supposed to be summer but. Wyatt Nelson, my wife's cousin's son and I went backpacking to the Missouri Lakes Basin near Vail Colorado. We had planned to see some snow and brought snowshoes but we never expected to see as much snow as we found. We started with a stream crossing. This water is snow melt derived and COLD! It was a relief to get to the other side and stand on a warm rock. Just a quarter mile up from the trailhead it was snow going. 2 First Aid Kit.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Second Creek training climb. Len and I really enjoyed ourselves on a beautiful trip up Second Creek which is just off Berthod Pass. We climbed to an A-Frame "cabin" which is mysterious in its origin and maintenance. It looks pretty rough but it is maintained to some degree. My friend Len hadn't been backpacking since his first and only trip many years ago and I invited him along on this quick over niter to help him get back in the game.
