Sunday, June 22, 2014. Cherry and Almond Sourdough Scones. I looked around a bit at some scone recipes, but then completely did my own thing anyway. Here is what I came up with. They were/are delicious! Scant 1/2 c sugar. 1 t baking powder. 1/8 t baking soda. 1/2 t salt (scant, if using salted butter). 1/4 c unsalted butter (chilled). 1 egg mixed with enough milk to equal 1/2 c. 1 1/2 c cherries (pitted and halved). 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten with a tablespoon of water. 425°F 20-25 minutes.
