JJ's Paris Guide: SELF GUIDED OR NOT
http://www.jjsparisguide.blogspot.com/p/se.html
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. SELF GUIDED OR NOT. Should you join a tour or do a self-guided tour? You can explore on you own term. Each person can save hundreds. It's difficult to get around. You spend a lot of time looking for direction. It's more physical demanding, meaning more walking to commute and find places. Transportation and navigation are convenient. You have to follow the tour and can't explore freely. Some tour guides make you go shopping when you just want to do sightseeing. Our Paris trip was in ea...
JJ's Paris Guide: Palace of Versailles
http://www.jjsparisguide.blogspot.com/2014/02/palace-of-versailles.html
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. This sculpture in the picture is the glorious Sun King, Louis XIV, who moved from Paris to Versailles. As you can see from the picture, it was cloudy in the morning. It rained for a short while then stopped before noon. This was early July. A cardigan or thin jacket is useful on a cloudy day or at night during July in Paris. It was the symbol of absolute wealth at the time when mirror was very expensive. Hall of Mirrors was where they had all the fancy parties. Visiting Palace of Vers...
JJ's Paris Guide: MONUMENTS
http://www.jjsparisguide.blogspot.com/p/monuments.html
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. Arc de Triomphe looks even better in real life. Pictures don't do it justice because it has so many beautiful details. The Hall of Mirrors in Palace of Versailles is just sumptuous. No words. Due to weather, the opening time of monuments could be changed. Please click the link, Hour,. To confirm with their sites. JJ's Paris Guide: MUSEUMS
http://www.jjsparisguide.blogspot.com/p/museums.html
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. It is always fun to watch the tourist mob. Everybody was trying to take a good shot of Mona Lisa at Louvre. I couldn't help documenting their devotion. The exterior of Centre Pompidou. Very interesting. Renzo Piano is a pioneer. Should you buy a museum pass? As they say, if you are going to visit 2 museums per day, the museum pass will be useful. You can buy museum pass at the first museum you visit. Metro: Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre. 11am – 9pm. Opening until 7pm on 12...Metro: ...
JJ's Paris Guide: EATING
http://www.jjsparisguide.blogspot.com/p/eating.html
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. The escargots were plump, fresh and juicy. Fun eat! I would love to have this dish again. Restaurants in Paris are required to display their menus outside. It is a great practice, isn't it? You know what they serve and the prices before you walk in. No anxiety over the bill! There are usually 4 types of restaurant in Paris. It is a small informal eatery that serves simple food and often a regional cuisine. It is usually owned by single owner or chef. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Its am...

JJ's Travel Tales: Paris, Day 3: Notre Dame
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/10/paris-day-3-notre-dame.html
Friday, October 10, 2014. Paris, Day 3: Notre Dame. I am obsessed with Notre Dame. It's such a mystical place. The church is open to public and photography is allowed. They are very generous. When we were at Notre Dame, they were having a Mass. It was so great listening to the priest speaking and singing in French. It sounded beautiful and peaceful. Getting Around in Paris. Places of Interest in Each Arrondissement. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Madrid, Day 4: Windmills in Consuegra. Retiro Park is...
JJ's Travel Tales: Paris, Day 4: Louvre
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/10/paris-day-4-louvre.html
Friday, October 17, 2014. Paris, Day 4: Louvre. Is impressive, the collections and the architecture of the museum itself. I was surprised it wasn't agonizing to get in. You just have to be there early, like 9am. The collections are very extensive, it's impossible to see everything in one day. That's when you wish you lived in Paris, so you could come back to see everything. The most photographed painting in Louvre is probably Mona Lisa. Beats me. Venus de Milo. Getting Around in Paris. The second day in ...
JJ's Travel Tales: Barcelona, Day 6: Port Vell
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/06/barcelona-day-6-port-vell.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Barcelona, Day 6: Port Vell. Pork Vell is beneath the south of La Rambla. There are a shopping mall, cinema, aquarium and plenty of restaurants. This area is spacious. It's a nice place to hang out. Also, it's family friendly, you see parents with little children here. On this trip to Barcelona, I always kicked myself for not having enough time to spend on one place - I had to keep moving to see more places. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Madrid, Day 2: Retiro Park. Some tr...

JJ's Travel Tales: Madrid, Day 2: Retiro Park
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/07/madrid-day-2-retiro-park.html
Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Madrid, Day 2: Retiro Park. Retiro Park is just right next to Prado. It is beautiful. There is a boating lake and you can rent a rowing boat. It is a very romantic spot, do you reckon? Just remember to wear sunscreen while rowing your boat. As you can see from the picture, the sun is quite harsh during the day. But no worries, there are a lot of trees in the park. You can always hide in the shade and cool down instantly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Some travel blogs or gu...
JJ's Travel Tales: Barcelona, Day 6: The Beach
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/06/barcelona-day-6-beach.html
Friday, June 27, 2014. Barcelona, Day 6: The Beach. Based on my research, the beach is supposed to be within walking distance of La Rambla. But you don't want to miss out on the sight of Port Vell, don't you? So I just kept walking and walking. By the time we arrived at the beach, I already got enough tan that could last a year. It saved me money on spray tanning or self tanning. Roy Lichtenstein's Barcelona Face. I am just doing "peacocking" people a favor, so they know where to go. We had already visit...
JJ's Travel Tales: Madrid, Day 4: Windmills in Consuegra
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/07/day-4-madrid-windmills-in-consuegra.html
Monday, July 28, 2014. Madrid, Day 4: Windmills in Consuegra. We had already visited a lot of important sites in Madrid, therefore we had time to check out the windmills in Consuegra. Our story of visiting Consuegra is so dramatic, where do I begin? In the beginning, I was trying to convince JJ to skip it because making the transportation seamless was just impossible. But he insisted he had to photograph the windmills. We got on the bus and made it back to Toledo. We saw that the thermometer at the T...
JJ's Travel Tales: Paris, Day 5: Leaving Paris
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/10/paris-day-5-leaving-paris.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Paris, Day 5: Leaving Paris. We were leaving Paris for London this afternoon. We had our last breakfast in Paris. French breakfast. After breakfast, we walked around Saint Germain. The touristy destinations in Paris all exceed our expectation and are worth taking hours to view them. The museums and monuments in Paris are priceless treasures indeed. It's such a pity we had to leave so soon. Getting Around in Paris. Places of Interest in Each Arrondissement. Since the Florence ...
JJ's Travel Tales: London: London Eye
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/03/london-eye.html
Monday, March 10, 2014. You may say London Eye is too theme-park like. But you should at least go up once to look back down on the city. It is a lovely view. We arrived there in the evening. The line wasn't terribly long and moved quickly. It was about 30 to 40 minute wait. Once we got inside the capsule, it was like a nonstop photo op. It's very roomy inside with small capacity, you wouldn't have a problem to find a nice viewing spot. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Madrid, Day 2: Retiro Park. Retir...
JJ's Travel Tales: Barcelona, Day 4: Park Güell
http://jjstraveltales.blogspot.com/2014/06/barcelona-day-4-park-guell.html
Monday, June 9, 2014. Barcelona, Day 4: Park Güell. To go to Park Güell, you have to take the bus, line 24, at Plaça de Catalunya. The bus will drop you off right in front of the main entrance. If you take the metro or other buses, you will have to walk a long way to the park. Remember, the park is on the hill, so it's not going to be an easy walk especially during a hot day. Line 24 is the best option. This was my view during the long wait. I could see Sagrada Familia from here. The view over the terrace.

JJ's Paris Guide
SELF GUIDED OR NOT. What are they taking pictures of? Its the Arc de Triomphe! The Arc is another amazing monument in Paris you must visit. And yes, it looks better in real life just like the Eiffel Tower. I think its because pictures and videos usually dont pick up all the elaborate details. The real thing always wows you. . This sculpture in the picture is the glorious Sun King, Louis XIV, who moved from Paris to Versailles. . It was the symbol of absolute wealth at the time when mirror was very expens...
