Joane's blog

Wednesday, May 6, 2009. The three marches reading was very fun to read. It talked about three different marches that helped change things for the LGBT community. Because they loved someone of the same ***. That shouldn’t matter people are people and to me discrimination of any type is unacceptable. The government basically discriminates against the LGBT community without any consequences. It’s just like discrimination against different races, but with a different group of people. Joane's blog: Heterosexism

http://www.joanemcafee.blogspot.com/2009/03/heterosexism.html

Saturday, March 21, 2009. I enjoyed having Deirdre come speak to the class. She was hilarious. I found her opinion of heterosexuality to be different. I’ve never heard somebody say a lot of the things she said about heterosexual couples, but I do think some of her points were valid. I do think people tend to forget about their own script and start to follow the script of society. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

You might enjoy more of Jewelle Gomez's work (google her) or the book in which this essay was published, Making Face, Making Soul: Creative and Critical Perspectives by Feminists of Color. April 1, 2009 at 10:54 PM. Thank you for writing this. I feel that if I'm going to comment, I should have something more substantial to say—but I just wanted to let you know that this was really helpful for me in understanding Adrienne Rich's viewpoints. Intro to lgbt studies. A place to discuss ideas and questions relevant to the course Introduction to LGBT Studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato, Spring 2009. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. The "that's hot" comment one student reported got some chuckles. Overall, I would say, there were few overtly homophobic responses. Is it "Minnesota nice" that explains the lack of negativity? Did family members and friends withhold negative attitudes, or were people truly cool with it? Is LGBT studies "hot"?
