Creekside Musings at 9,620': An Eventful Week!

http://jobeadventures.blogspot.com/2016/06/an-eventful-week.html

Creekside Musings at 9,620'. Reflections on a year of volunteering at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. Friday, June 3, 2016. We had off on Memorial Day and visited our nephew's family who live in Louisville, CO. Esther and Harold, Betty's sister and husband from Indiana were visiting them so it was a great family time with great food. Have you ever had a grilled cheese sandwich with caramelized onions and swiss cheese on swirled rye bread? Jonathan has been working on it 7 days/week for the past 3 weeks!

Creekside Musings at 9,620': There's Gold in Them Thar Hills! Or Not.

http://jobeadventures.blogspot.com/2016/05/theres-gold-in-them-thar-hills-or-not.html

Creekside Musings at 9,620'. Reflections on a year of volunteering at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. Sunday, May 1, 2016. There's Gold in Them Thar Hills! We also saw houses with interesting architecture and colors. Abandoned mine (and dreams) combined with the gray weather made for a dismal landscape. Some creative soul is optimistic about Spring! Main Street Mural added some color to the day. What was once a booming town has dwindled to 400 people. It's behind the New Beetle). We will definitely revisit.

Creekside Musings at 9,620': March 2016

http://jobeadventures.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Creekside Musings at 9,620'. Reflections on a year of volunteering at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. Friday, March 4, 2016. Pebbles in Our Shoes. My friend, Anita, gave me a month-long subscription to emails from one of my favorite artists (Mary Anne Radmacher) who also incorporates words/poetry into her art. This one made Jonathan and me say "hmmmmmmm, there's a blog post here! Instead, maintenance (Jonathan) spreads pebbles/stones over the ice to give traction for walking and driving. Simple theme....

Creekside Musings at 9,620'. Reflections on a year of volunteering at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. Sunday, November 27, 2016. December 30 is rapidly approaching! The End is near - already! Gold Camp Road near Victor, CO. If you want the picture version of what we've been doing since our last blog post, scroll down and make sure you see the last couple of pictures showing Jonathan having his lifelong dream fulfilled - having a building named in his honor. (RIIIGHT! Betty and niece, Maria. The End is nea.

Creekside Musings at 9,620': A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!

http://jobeadventures.blogspot.com/2016/07/a-picture-is-worth-thousand-words.html

Creekside Musings at 9,620'. Reflections on a year of volunteering at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. Friday, July 15, 2016. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words! The view from Betty's spot. Summer staff at first worship service - a great group of kids! Volunteer youth group from FMC in Iowa City - they worked hard! Jonathan, nephew David, and two staffers hiked to Devil's Playground to view the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We finally made it to Raspberry Mountain (Chris Way!

Reflections from Buffalo Creek: January 2013

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Saturday, January 19, 2013. She lies in state. The watchers wrap around her bed. Spill over and fill the house,. An entourage to escort the faithful one. To the celebration on the other side. They wait as time drags his feet. To give them moments of gold. Murmers rise and fall. In rhythm with her breathing. And every word is captured. In buckets of tears. And gales of laughter. As they text, crochet, pace,. Work online, eat, pray,. Hold her hand, sleep. As she breathes on.

Reflections from Buffalo Creek: July 2013

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Saturday, July 20, 2013. Grief is a fickle fellow. He pays his visits. Today I saw your picture. And my heart cried out in pain. You and I were young again. Always and forever friends. I saw our time together. I thought of what I'd say. If only I could reach you. Surely not for you I weep. But for the love so sorely missed. For all that might have been. I grieve, but not in vain. For the One who bore my griefs. Takes every tear unto Himself. Gives me comfort, hope and peace.

Reflections from Buffalo Creek: Maggie

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2014/09/maggie.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Thursday, September 4, 2014. Maggie's fingers curled more tightly around the steering wheel as her car bumped along the dirt road. What a stupid pilgrimage this is! Do you ever stop missing your Mom? Maggie wondered. Subconsciously she rubbed her cheek as she remembered her mother's tears the day Maggie left home. Not that she wanted to leave. Why must I go back? Well, isn't that appropriate? You're 18 years old now. Get out of my house and don't come back! She almost chuc...

Reflections from Buffalo Creek: Awaiting

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2015/04/awaiting.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Spring blew open winter's door. Snatched the snowy blanket from his bed. Released the rivers from their icy cells. Danced her way through trees. As she whistled for the birds. To call them from the south. Tis futile to resist," she laughed. And calmly knelt to whisper. To the likes of bluebell. Aroused by her embrace. The peepers in the marsh. Welcomed her with fervent songs. She skipped across my lawn. Leaving kaboodles of yellow dandys.

Reflections from Buffalo Creek: April 2014

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Friday, April 25, 2014. In cold and silent winter,. Flowers die, leaves decay. Like dreams of yesterday. Are the trees struck with panic. As they tremble in the wind. Fearing no return of spring. Growing old, or losing sap? Or do they rest in hope. Of seasons yet to come,. Of summer's wounds to heal,. Content to garner strength. Till winter's work is done. When time was full, spring returned. So healing came, I know not how. While carried by the Shepherd. My heart can hear.

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Saturday, March 9, 2013. Yesterday and every day before. She waited for me to come. Today, no one waits. My soul retreats like sap. In dormant trees of winter. Do they feel the whipping wind? The chill of draping snow? The heaviness of the dark? They're telling me to rest. In hope of spring to be. When winter's work is done. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Reflections from Buffalo Creek: May 2014

http://reflectionsfrombuffalocreek.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Reflections from Buffalo Creek. Saturday, May 24, 2014. Some said she was a witch,. Who lived in a two-room house. Easy enough for a kid to believe. Drifted from her house on the hill. To the road below,. As she traveled on foot. Everywhere she went,. Announced her presence when. She rested by the side of the road. She was always on speaking terms. Tiptoeing past her house to school. A familiar voice filled me with dread. She was on the road ahead. My legs refused to move. Look out, it's a snake! On the ...
