Artificial Puppetry: December 2012
http://www.joehornsby.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
The blog of Joe Hornsby. Monday, 31 December 2012. So, we're back on to pre-production now, with yet more drawing. Not my strongest suit, but so long as it helps me think about poses then its not too bad. I've been doing a few for each, but mostly been focussing on the attack animations for the player character, since they're the most fun. Links to this post. Sunday, 16 December 2012. We decided the project would best slot into Echoes if we used it to make puzzles. Fortunately this also gave us a goo...
Artificial Puppetry: April 2013
http://www.joehornsby.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
The blog of Joe Hornsby. Friday, 26 April 2013. Time flies, and time you need to work on something even more so. First submittal has snuck up on us, and we're all trying to compile our work. This is our last chance to get the tutors to have a really good look at our work, and our last chance to get some in depth feedback. Most of my focus was on the rigging I've done, as that will go (mostly) unchanged between now and the hand-in. Links to this post. Wednesday, 24 April 2013. Relatively recently they inc...
Artificial Puppetry: January 2013
http://www.joehornsby.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The blog of Joe Hornsby. Saturday, 5 January 2013. NOTE: The little girl is the only Unity ready model we have at the moment, due to the fact we've not started pre-production yet. Don't worry, she's fine. Stretchy limbs came in useful. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Friends' blogs, sites I like etc. Diary of a Firefly. A Blog Of CG Artwork. Artificial Puppetry: May 2013
http://www.joehornsby.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
The blog of Joe Hornsby. Wednesday, 22 May 2013. Usability is another area I would like to be better. A number of times I encountered animators not using features because they simply did not know they were there. I provided read-me files with explanations, but a text document is hard to remember when getting on with animation, so I want to look into having switches like IK/FK, global/local, and selection sets available from a custom UI. The Dragon was great fun to animate, and the only real issue I had h...
Artificial Puppetry: October 2012
http://www.joehornsby.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
The blog of Joe Hornsby. Sunday, 28 October 2012. Seeing as it's topical with regards to the MotionBuilder assignment, I'll continue the blog-a-thon. I found the basics of the HumanIK system, and thought I'd share for anyone interested. So to create a HumanIK rig in Maya, we have to make sure the plugin is loaded. If its not, you can activate it by going to Window Settings/Preferences Plug-In Manager. Then scroll down and check that mayaHIK.mll. Is set to Loaded. To load the HIK plug-in. You can select c...

Dean's Development: Final Renders
http://deanpaupe.blogspot.com/2013/05/final-renders.html
Sunday, 12 May 2013. There are a few final renders coming out of my major project work now as I prefer the marking showreel for Friday. Not all of them are finish, some still need ambient occlusion and some have unfinished textures but this is where they are so far. I have rendered them out as still frames to stop it from getting compressed twice and will not be putting them into a video until the showreel so I can only show still at the moment. Here are the books:. The bow and arrow:. A reflection of Fen.
Dean's Development: July 2013
http://deanpaupe.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 July 2013. Wow almost two months since my last blog post, I used to be so good at keeping these up to date. I've been so busy that it has been slightly neglected so I imagine this blog post is going to be a biggy. My last blog posted showed the end of my major project work at university, despite numerous difficulties the grade eventually came out as a 68, a high 2:1, which is what I wanted to get as this left me with a 2:1 overall for the year. The last week I graduated, woo hoo! Awesome Inc...
Dean's Development: October 2013

Monday, 21 October 2013. The Return Of Dean! So I always said I wouldn't let it get this long between blog posts, but I guess I failed that one. But enough about my personal life, I don't have a whole lot to show but here area few digital painting I did to practice new techniques. The painting was a copy of a random image I found on google search:. In short the game is a side scrolling shooter which uses 2D sprites generated from 3D models. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dean's Discussions: The Witch's House and PewDiePie
http://deanpaupeblog.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-witchs-house-and-pewdiepie.html
Thursday, 22 November 2012. The Witch's House and PewDiePie. So, I've recently started watching PewDiePie's lets play videos over on Youtube. Honestly, I thought I would hate them. I expected someone who thinks way too much of themselves will be playing games expecting everyone just to sit and watch him, and watching other people play games has never had great appeal to me. So, it's a pretty good game, why write a blog post about it? Honestly, this ending had me thinking for days after I saw it. That...
Dean's Discussions: July 2015
http://deanpaupeblog.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 10 July 2015. Final Fantasy IX's 15th Year Anniversary. So it was Final Fantasy IX's 15th birthday this week, so I thought I'd celebrate by writing a post. So it's a little bit late, but I wanted to write a bit about why it's one my favourite (if not my ABSOLUTE favourite) game of all time. It's not something I've ever really been good at, explaining why I love the things I do, but I'm going to attempt it none the less. It's the least I can do. Enjoying Life Whilst Facing Death and Destruction.
Dean's Discussions: Botanicula Review
http://deanpaupeblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/botanicula-review.html
Saturday, 27 October 2012. I've wanted to write a review for this game for quite a long time, so I thought it would be a good one to start off my blog. So here goes nothing. Botanicula is a point and click indie game developed by Amanita Design which is based in the Czech Republic. Amanita has made a few games in the point and click adventure genre, some of which are not completely unknown such as Machinarium and the Samorost games. And I was not disappointed. The first thing I noticed when I picked the ...

Thursday, 20 December 2012. Anna is a first person horror style adventure game which is very similar to point and click adventure games in that you need to search the environment for items and hints to what you need to do. It's created by Dreampainters and it's available on Steam. It focuses heavily on the exploration side of things. I'm now going to talk about the horror aspect. As horror is always better when you don't know what's happening I'm going to put up a spoiler warning and let you know whe...

Joe Horowitz Music
Oe Horowitz' music could be coined as classic American Road music. He spent his twenties traveling the world playing professional golf tournaments and performing shows in the cities he frequented. Having been raised on the gritty and soulful sounds of Artists like Bob Seger,Creedence Clearwater, David Gray and storytellers like Willie Nelson Jerry Jeff Walker and Van Morrison, Joe's music reflects an obvious love for the troubador way of life.
