The Doan Family: November 2014
http://the-doan-family.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. This weekend Sarah and I took advantage of our warmer weather and headed outside to put the garden to rest for the season and decorate for Christmas. It was great to be able to decorate without the cold and snow. I know in the past I have been outside in much colder temperatures, so this was lovely! We like to get started early as there is much to do inside and out at Christmas (and we love this! Let me take this opportunity to invite you to our Annual Christmas Open House.

Tuesday, August 04, 2015. For many years now, our family has been going to the Salmon Arm Camping Resort for an annual family camping trip. In recent years, we have added to our number and we now have Auntie Dawn and Uncle Greg, Stewart and Tobi and their family, and Erin and Owen and their family. It makes for a wonderful time together. Here Magda is picking Anna up in her inner tube, much to Anna's delight. Lounging by the pool is definitely a treat! Sophie, Sarah, and Ethan enjoyed themselves too!

Monday, July 28, 2014. One of the "must do" things on my list for summer was visiting Lac le Jeune. I love how close the lake is and the call of the loons beckons me to come. Sarah looking very relaxed. Sophie - bundled in a towel after braving the water. Children Buckets Sand Water = Fun. Due to the higher elevation, the area is much cooler than Kamloops, making it a great place to visit on our hot days. Eagle Bay Camp - Part One. Love the fun they are having! I love Ethan's smile! Up, up and away!

Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Sophie Comes For a Visit. We love to spend time with our nieces and nephews. Yesterday, we were so pleased to have Sophie come and stay with us overnight. Given that we are all on holidays, it meant we could plan some extra special things to do together. When I saw the gingerbread pan (in the first photo), I just knew it would be perfect for making a giant cookie with our nieces and nephews (and it was! As you can see, the girls had lots of fun getting the dough ready. I had s...

Saturday, October 18, 2014. Forced Family Fun - Lac le Jeune. For today's forced family fun activity, we drove to Lac le Jeune for a good old fashioned hot dog roast. Well, not exactly.we used the coleman stove. We did not anticipate the wind, and it was rather cold when we arrived. Fortunately, we did have gloves and hats, but it was still cold (but then isn't that what you would expect when it is forced family fun? Sarah was a real trooper. Regardless, it was great to be out in the great outdoors!

The Doan Family: January 2015

Wednesday, January 07, 2015. This evening, Sarah and I worked on building a snowman. The temperature has dropped and I thought the snow would be perfect, but it wasn't quite right for rolling the snow. We were able to pack the snow and we used large chunks of snow. The chunk used for the head was rather triangular, which resulted in our snowman looking more like a snow elf. Sarah is trying to emphasize the beard. Yes, our Snow Elf has a beard! Sarah and the Snow Elf on the island in front of our house.

Monday, February 10, 2014. Downton Abbey Dinner Party. After enjoying a delightful Downton Abbey inspired dinner party over a year ago, my friends and I decided it was high time for another one. It was great fun to have an excuse to dress up and enjoy a special meal together. Sophie and Sarah got in on the fun - though their experience was a little different than ours. These two were a huge help to me with both the final preparations as well as serving the various courses throughout the evening. It was a...
