Thoughts on whatever, mostly design related. Drawing type - rough character drafts. After scribbling around the past few days, gathering inspiration, pondering proportions etc. I got around to make rough prototypes of a few characters. Couple of icelandic words, weight not yet balanced. Wanted to start writing out words as soon as possible, to see where I would come across problems. There’s loads there. The serifs seem to get noisy at the baseline. Some of the proto-character drawings.

Thoughts on whatever, mostly design related. I’ve gotten my rough sketches into fontlab, and I’m starting to write out words. Playing around with the correction pen as I go along, finding weaknesses and writing notes on what to fix / draw again. Been really busy with other stuff though, excuses etc. - need to make more time for drawing type.

Thoughts on whatever, mostly design related. Drawing type - tools I’m using. Been exploring letterforms in my spare time the past few days, as part of drawing my first font. Been using a few tools, both tangible ones and software. Mainly I’m using a lead holder. For drawing the letterforms before I then ink them. Mine is from Faber-Castell, but that’s just because it was the only one I could find here in Iceland. Also, for pencil work I’m using an eraser. And an eraser shield. For time-tracking I use Yast.

Thoughts on whatever, mostly design related. In Iceland, october has become the month of personal challenges, or Meistaramánuður as we call it. I have a few battles ongoing, but the one I’m passionate about is trying to make a typeface, or atleast get going with it. Okay, one font. I love everything about type; looking at it, the curves, lettering, typesetting etc. but have never even tried to make a font. Will be posting progress, thoughts, etc. as the project progresses.

Vi tog då den här bilden. Då hade kanske båda haft lyckan att ha vetskapen om varför den här bilden faktiskt togs. Åren gick och vi blev allt äldre och äldre. Till slut kom han på det.
