Hanoi to Bangkok: Bangkok day 2
http://www.joread.com/2011/11/bangkok-day-2.html
Thursday, November 24, 2011. We got into town around 7 pm last night. Loaded our stuff into our rooms and headed out for a meal. I like Thailand. It feels good and there is less poverty and ravage of war here. It has a completely different feel than Vietnam or Cambodia and is much less congested and cleaner. There are even freeways here! Today, those of us still in town visited the palace which is absolutely incredible. I felt like I was in Siam! Which is exactly what it was. Hanoi to Bangkok Notes.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011. We're waiting to catch the night train to Hue. Packs are loaded in the foyer and we're filling the cooler with beer, wine and champagne. It's a birthday night for one of the boys and the group will be celebrating. Some of the girls headed off for manicures and pedicures ($5 US) enjoyed lunch at a wonderful restaurant. Hanoi to Bangkok: Nah Trang day 1
http://www.joread.com/2011/11/nah-trang-day-1.html
Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Nah Trang day 1. Although the flooding was devastating to the community, up to the first step of our hotel entrance and the train was not running to the south, the sun decided to shine and we spent the day at the pool. After breakfast I roamed around looking for a black bikini for our afternoon mud bath and a hair dresser. I found both, the hair has again been chopped off and highlighted and the black bikini looks pretty good considering. Check out the haircut and tan lines!

http://www.joread.com/2011/11/nah-tran-day-2.html
Thursday, November 10, 2011. Nah Tran day 2. Last night we went for a Vietnamese BBQ. Then we headed to the bar where the dancing was inside and the drinking street side. This morning we met one of the girls and when we asked when she left the party her answer was "about 15 minutes ago". She's not on the list to come snorkeling today and will enjoy another day lazing on the beach. Later we headed to another village on the water where some of is enjoyed the thrills of parasailing. Monday, October 31, 2011. Haiphong City on Catba Islamd. Got up early this morning for breakfast and kayaking to Monkey Island. Will leave the island after lunch and head back to Hanoi. Great group of young people. I am the oldest and all of them are younger than my own kids and great fun. We started off at 8 this morning arriving at the junk around noon. We travelled by rice fields and farms that probably looked the same a thousand years ago. Saturday, October 29, 2011. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Deep f...

Hanoi to Bangkok: Cambodia day 2
http://www.joread.com/2011/11/all-is-well.html
Monday, November 14, 2011. All is well. Have had difficulty with the wifi at previous hotels. Am now in Sihanoukville in Cambodia and will remain here for 3 days. It's a beach town and we're going snorkeling this afternoon. Cambodia is much mor poor and less developed than Vietnam and much less populated and goes at a slower pace. Phnom Pehn is a lovely city and nowhere near as congested as Saigon or Hanoi. The interior of the bus is decorated. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hanoi to Bangkok Notes.

Hanoi to Bangkok: Back in PP
http://www.joread.com/2011/11/we-returned-to-pp-around-noon-today.html
Friday, November 18, 2011. This is where the family slept. We slept upstairs. It was an interesting night. We had dinner at a communal restaurant run by the village because there were too many of us for the families to feed and we were split between 2 homes for our sleeping arrangements. We slept on Mara on the floor in. It's quit strange. Other than that I'm feeling fine and have had no side effects from the different foods or heat. I also went to the Russian market today on a tookook. Day 2 in Siem Reap.

Hanoi to Bangkok: Flooding on Hoi An
http://www.joread.com/2011/11/flooding-on-hoi.html
Monday, November 7, 2011. Flooding on Hoi An. This morning the water was up to the hotel entrance. The train has stopped running and we are here for another day. We may fly out if we can get to the airport and if we can get flights to HCMC. I'm not concerned and glad I am traveling with a tour leader rather than solo. The beginnings of chicken vegetable soup. Shredding a green mango for green mango salad. Here comes more rain! I'll keep in touch as long as we've got power and wifi. Tke care and stay safe!
