Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. October 6, 2013. Days 166 to 167 – Heartbreak. My hike is done. Not exactly completed, but done for this year at least. And so we are done. The high route is snowed in, and the lower alternate route is illegal. After getting our hopes up, and having them dashed repeatedly over the past week, we are out of options and out of energy. Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. September 26, 2013. Day 159 – 20 miles. Abandoned Weather Station to Snoqualmie. Today the trail was a bit of a slog, with no views, and no breaks because it was too cold to stop. I am definitely ready to be done hiking! Oh well, less than two weeks to go, and in the meantime I get to enjoy the Christmas colours of the northern Washington forests. Day 158 – 27 miles. Day 160 and 161……in limbo →. Finally I rounded a bend and saw the monument that I’ve dreamed of seeing every day these past 5 months. Tears! 250 missing miles be damned. I hiked the hell out of the PCT this year. No more bloody heels after a long day of hiking! I also got a new shelter too. Here it is… It’s a hammock! I cannot wait to get to camp and test this baby out!
