My Run Around: January 2014
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 20, 2014. I can't tell you the answer. I can only ask you the question; did you live your dream today? Peel your layers back, open up, give yourself, come apart all to become whole. Love yourself by living your dream. Posted by Kelly Griego. Monday, January 13, 2014. Something happened today and you may not have even noticed. The sun still came up. Drank your cup of coffee. Maybe it happened so fast you missed it. Blinked and it passed by. Did you live it. Did you love it.

My Run Around: What's found at the finish?
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2014/07/whats-found-at-finish.html
Friday, July 25, 2014. What's found at the finish? For the last 20 weeks I have been swimming, biking and running to the tune of about 185 hours. Just under 9.5 hours a week. Maybe that sounds like a lot, maybe you do more, it’s really an irrelevant amount, 185 hours, what does that mean anyway? The Racine weekend kicked off with a great dinner with the large group of friends, old and new, at a fantastic Italian Restaurant downtown called Salute. Pre Race meal with some great people. My transition setup ...

My Run Around: August 2013
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. We train to race. Training is suppose to hurt, push and condition our bodies in order to prepare us for race day. For a while I had wanted to buck that norm with a long ride. Last Saturday I had that opportunity, the kids were with their mother, and most of the triathlon community of Madison WI, was in Door County. To participate in either the sprint or half iron races. I had no agenda, no plan or specific route. My goal was to get up near Devils Lake. This time is spent shifting...

My Run Around: What a race looks like from the inside
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2014/07/what-race-looks-like-from-inside.html
Friday, July 18, 2014. What a race looks like from the inside. If you ask me what my race looks like while I’m out there swimming, biking and running it’s best summed up with this picture. Emmie's latest race day creation for me. I’ve been a spectator at many racing events; marathons, half marathons, Ironman and from the spectating view I experience many emotions as I visualize myself in the competitors’ shoes. Thinking back I feel that it looks worse than it is. Race pictures can document a moment in ti...

My Run Around: September 2012
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 22, 2012. My Ironman Experience . . . As told by Rod Maccoux with commentary from Dawn Fisher:. I have received questions from many people asking about my experience doing the Ironman. This is a rather lengthy description of the event. I have asked Kelly my guide, and Dawn who helped me in many ways get to the finish line, to add clarification. Without seeing what unfolded, I just don’t feel that I have interpreted things correctly, or with important visual details. My guide Kelly and...

My Run Around: June 2013
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 21, 2013. Beat Your Heat - Finale. Photo by Bill Baumeyer. As I made the left turn to start the second lap along the water way, I was met with the biggest crowds of the day. The walk way was filled with people cheering and screaming. Kids running around, people eating and drinking at the shops and restaurants that lined the course. It was easy to pick up the pace here and smile as the fans lifted my spirits and made me forget, briefly, how hot it was. Two passes by them, two ass slaps!

My Run Around: July 2012
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 12, 2012. If you mention that you're training for Ironman you get vari ed looks of surprise, astonishment, and encouragement. When I tell them that I'm not actually doing Ironman, that I'm training to guide a blind athlete, the look goes somewhat to confusion; followed by a curious "How's that work? Posted by Kelly Griego. My Run Around: December 2013
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 27, 2013. What you see is what you give. Over the last couple years I’ve had the privilege to guide visually impaired and blind athletes for various races and training rides/runs. When I describe this to people they offer a gracious pat on the back followed by stating “I’d never be able to do that, I’m too .”. Fill in the blank with anything you can think of: slow, inexperienced runner, never guided before….so on and so forth. Early morning December 8. Asking the athlete’s preferen...

My Run Around: What's found at mile 50
http://myrunaround.blogspot.com/2014/10/whats-found-at-mile-50.html
Thursday, October 23, 2014. What's found at mile 50. It's 7 AM and the race is about to start. Waiving an empty GU packet. According to Meghann I passed her by here and opted for a later kiss. Jogging on the way out near some other racers. The smile wasn't rare at each opportunity to see my support team. Lonesome runner or walker. This almost looks like a run. Somewhere out there where I was hurting. She laughed as I continued by and then replied "you're doing better than me and you've gone twice as far!
