England

Friday, 7 March 2008. Winter Break and Term 2. Hello to anyone who still checks this thing! Evidence of Spring is here now and the most exciting thing is the lambing! We’ve seen five births and love watching the adorable lambs hopping around their pens and now into the fields. Wild daffodils are bloom and the banks are covered in a sea of bright yellow flowers. We’ve been warned of a bobcat spotted in the village, but haven’t had any encounters yet! Wednesday, 12 December 2007. He does however have a flu...

Wednesday, 12 December 2007. I am finished with my term paper on The History of the Flute Prior to 1720 and learned so much by doing the research for it in Trevor's library. The great thing about his library is that you can read about an ancient flute, and then find the actual specimen in his collection and check it out and play it! Did you know that there was a flute discovered in a Neanderthal campsite and it is predicted to be anywhere 43,000 to 82,000 years old? Lindsay and I cooked Thanksgiving dinn...

Tuesday, 16 October 2007. As of yesterday, I have been here for one month! Flute class at the academy lasts from 10am to 6pm. I think students just reserve the entire day for it! We also went to Canterbury a couple of weeks ago. It’s 9.5 miles from where we live, but we’ve only been once so far. The main road we took to get there was built by the Romans 2000 years ago and is still heavily traveled by cars today! I hope everyone’s doing well back home. As they say here, Cheers! 17 October 2007 at 14:26.

Taking the road less traveled by....literally: October 2007

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Monday, October 29, 2007. What’s really the problem, as broad and general as I can make it? I know I don’t like the university, but why? Depending on who you are and when we last talked, there are several different states of being I have embodied in the past month, with varying degrees of extremity, most of them centered around one theme – I’m just not happy here. But how unhappy is “just not happy? It doesn’t really matter. Do I see things improving? I have no...

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Thursday, September 27, 2007. In case you’re keeping score at home, here’s the nitty gritty for my journey this weekend:. By the way I have already noticed that my English grammar is getting screwed up as I think more and more in the German style, so if I have long run-on sentences with verbs in funny places, please pardon me! And will return to studying music and learning language, instead of just studying language. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. The stereotyp...

Taking the road less traveled by....literally: Three Month Reflection...sort of.

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007/12/three-month-reflectionsort-of.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Three Month Reflection.sort of. I just remembered I am a few weeks overdue for my “three month reflection.”. So what’s happened in the past month (and a half)? Wow A lot. Almost exactly one month ago I took the first steps in making arrangements to come home. A little over one month ago I went to Berlin, which was the start of my travel period. And after that point, life got better. Once I get off the plane, what do I do? 8221; He ju...

Taking the road less traveled by....literally: Paris Part Deux

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007/12/paris-part-deux.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Sunday, December 16, 2007. As it turns out I do have a few more stories to share from Paris:. For lunch on my last day I went to a Chinese restaurant. It was where I was when I got hungry and the price was right, and only after I walked in the door was I struck with panic – what if these Paris-residing Chinese people don’t speak English? I don’t speak French or Chinese! Luckily the guy there did speak quite good English, and he was nice. The guard came running ...

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Friday, December 14, 2007. But that won’t work, because a good husband would always do this. What happens if the situation is like this? How would you reach an agreement? Whose job is it to do this? Although Paris in general is quite expensive. I also ate beef tar tar yesterday without knowing what it was – I knew I’d heard of it before, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong, until I got my plate and it was a patty of minced raw beef. It ta...Figuring it out as I go.

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Thursday, August 30, 2007. I am officially living in Germany! Wellat least in a hotel for now. Remind me next time I move abroad to pack ridiculously light. Even though I really can't carry all my luggage myself, I thought I packed light(-ish) this time - but who knew that the airline weighed the carry-on baggage too? I had some time to kill before I could check in, so I wandered around the city - it's beautiful! I also went in some shops just to look around, i...

http://robinschaps.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Taking the road less traveled by.literally. Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. Well, sort of. After a brief three days back in Dresden, I leave again this morning! This time I'm headed to Budapest, Hungary to visit a very dear friend of mine (who, predictably, happens to be Hungarian and lives in Budapest). Not only am I excited to see the city, which I hear is wonderful, but I am also thrilled to finally see a familiar face. Tuesday, November 27, 2007. To shortly recap, German chil...

Judy's Ramblings

Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Regulating Those Pesky Emotions. I was in discussion yesterday with some people in my life about emotions and depression, life-choices and medications. Not surprisingly, we all had different opinions. The one thing we all agreed upon was the goal of a personal sense of peace. Notice I didn't say happiness. I was disturbed to discover that while I was able to acknowledge which clothing items I really liked or disliked, I can't honestly say that any of them actually incited fe...
