Fredulous: Autism Milf
http://fredulous.blogspot.com/2015/05/autism-milf.html
Thursday, 21 May 2015. Between the ages of 5 and 8 there was a girl in my class who was autistic. It was kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The boys would be loud and obnoxious because they were expected to be. Including me sometimes. But I don’t think it was something I was very comfortable with and I quickly grew out of it. The other girls collectively treated the autistic girl like a baby, which was necessary. But the boys tormented her. Entirely because it was expected of them. I hate to perpetuate ...

Fredulous: Album Art Review: Rihanna - good girl gone bad
http://fredulous.blogspot.com/2014/06/album-art-review-rihanna-good-girl-gone.html
Wednesday, 11 June 2014. Album Art Review: Rihanna - good girl gone bad. Rihanna's third studio album good girl gone bad. Elevated the Barbadian to a level of stardom at which her name became familiar to guys like me, who can't actually name any of her songs or remember what she looks like other than that she has dark skin and long legs. And after carefully observing the album's artwork, I can see why. If we pay particular attention to the words used to title this masterpiece we notice three distinct ide...

Fredulous: Cancer, baby
http://fredulous.blogspot.com/2015/01/cancer-baby.html
Monday, 12 January 2015. I was showering and caressing my crotch when I noticed a lump. Shit I have cancer, I thought. I don’t have cancer though. It’s cool. My grandmother does. Which is not cool. It’s inoperable. She’ll probably die within the next few weeks. She’s been in the home for a week. I probably won’t ever see her again. I don’t feel like my relationship was close enough with her or anybody else who might be there for me to not feel out of place. I am an uncle now. I’ve realised that if ...

Fredulous: I am insecure about by masculinity
http://fredulous.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-am-insecure-about-by-masculinity.html
Saturday, 30 May 2015. I am insecure about by masculinity. Recently I was in a club, talking to a woman who was hot. She didn’t seem to have any particular aversion to me. In fact, based on her body language, I think she might have been enjoying my company. She touched my arm a lot and laughed at things I said. She held eye contact to let me know she was interested. She was tall. I felt that dull rejection feeling to a much lesser extent than I used to. I understood her perspective. Good girl gone bad.

Fredulous: Book Review: The Great Gatsby
http://fredulous.blogspot.com/2014/07/book-review-great-gatsby.html
Monday, 7 July 2014. Book Review: The Great Gatsby. I am not one of those idiots who thinks it's ok to ruin stories for other people just because they're not new anymore. This review, like every review, will contain spoilers. As the story progresses, Gatsby's mystery begins to unravel. We learn that he is the ultimate creep. After he raised a fortune through seedy dealings with members of a vast criminal underworld, Gatsby purchased a house beside where Nick would eventually live, solely so that ...Last ...

A Blog of One's Own. A Writer on Writing, the World, Random Reflections and Rants. Sunday, 3 August 2014. Sunday Morning Musing: Bukowski Wisdom. There is no losing in writing, it will make your toes laugh as you sleep. it will make you stride like a tiger.'. I love this line especially from Bukowski's declaration. 'There is no losing in writing. For more of Bukowski's tough-guy hard-earned writerly wisdom, click on his name in the Labels below this post. He has a lot to say on the craft and separati...

A Blog of One's Own: Pocket Poems for Poetry Day
http://a-blog-of-ones-own.blogspot.com/2015/05/pocket-poems-for-poetry-day.html
A Blog of One's Own. A Writer on Writing, the World, Random Reflections and Rants. Thursday, 7 May 2015. Pocket Poems for Poetry Day. Pocket poems as a venture have been doing the rounds for a while in America. And I just love the idea of them. They make poetry so accessible. And personal. And keepsake-able. But I fantasize about the day when poems are handed out as leaflets in the street to passers-by. Imagine! Perhaps poetry's greatest attribute and side-effect. Try it :). 11 May 2015 at 11:46. Budding...

A Blog of One's Own. A Writer on Writing, the World, Random Reflections and Rants. Thursday, 30 October 2014. The Boo in Books: Storytelling Magic. Last night I attended a stage production of one of my favourite seasonal reads, Bram Stoker's Dracula,. In the form of Jonathan Harker and Dracula. Tour-de-force re-enactment of the classic novel. Although the production was minimal, the execution was brilliant. I'm a nervous wreck! A testament to the story's (and our storyteller's) captivating power. The who...

A Blog of One's Own: March 2015

A Blog of One's Own. A Writer on Writing, the World, Random Reflections and Rants. Thursday, 19 March 2015. Can Writers Read Too Much? As an insatiable reader I would automatically answer the question the title of this post poses with a vehement No. But as a writer, I'm beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as reading too much. Like a see-saw, will one go down if the other goes up? It's all about achieving balance. And recently my scales have been off (by a truckload of books). To read. All wr...
