Rocky Mountain National Park. As soon as I entered this national park, I was greeted by this large herd of elk. They didn't seem to mind all the humans looking at them. I guess they figured that they REALLY have it made here - nobody is allowed to hunt and the valleys and meadows are spectacular. Life is good if you are an elk living in Rocky Mountain National Park! She was trying to tell me something (probably get away from her), but I don't speak elk! Beautiful Stellar Jay (common in Utah and Colorado).

OKLAHOMA CITY NATIONAL MEMORIAL (05/09). On April 19, 1995, at 9:02 am, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was bombed. I was honored to visit this memorial for the 168 victims, the survivors, and the rescuers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that if anyone is any where near Oklahoma City, OK, that they visit the memorial and museum. It is run by the National Park Service. Bristlecone Pine Trees at Cedar Breaks (Utah). I thought that I was a seasoned hiker (I am not), and that I could easily do a strenuous hike uphill to 10,000 feet (I was unqualified! St Marks National Wildlife Refuge (01/2014). I was in the Florida panhandle to see. Bring juvenile whooping cranes to Florida where they will spend the winter at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. My car has a little snow thingy to let me know it is COLD outside! I don't see it too often! The ground was COVERED in snow! Unfortunately, the cranes were a little cranky this Saturday morning and didn't want to fly (hey, I was cranky too getting up so early on a cold morning! There's no bad view here.

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (St. Augustine FL) (12/2011). The Castillo de San Marcos. This is a beautiful National Monument. It's very interesting to walk around the fort and visualize what happened so many years ago. The view of St. Augustine is spectacular, as is the view of the River. It was such a nice day to enjoy this National Park site. This looked like some kind of dungeon! In this room there's a short film about the Fort. Look at that view of the Matanzas River! Me or this pigeon!

Long Key State Park (Florida Keys). This is an amazing state park. It is a birdwatcher's dream. The entire park runs along the coastline - it is beautiful. Sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. And, the park people who run it do a very good job; they run a tight ship and it shows. Everything from the campsites to the restrooms are immaculate. Nice job the Florida State Park people do! An awesome little hawk. I was surprised he didn't fly away. A magnificent frigate bird (female). Oh, YEAH, life is good.

I believe this is a mother, father and 4 chicks (I say that because I saw them weeks earlier when 4 of them were smaller than the other two). Wednesday, 18 April 2012. Has it really been 8 months? I have been very busy! I now have a spare room that I can use as my "nail room", can't wait to get it up and running, we have finished decorating downstairs now so I can't wait to get started on decorating my lovely nail room. Deciding on a colour scheme is proving to be a little more difficult than I thought it would be! I really need to stop changing my mind and just get on with it!
