Spring is coming. | Just Some Things
https://justsomethingsblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/16/spring-is-coming
Thoughts on writing, life, and whatever else comes to mind. March 16, 2013. Spring is almost here! Until the seasons started changing, I wasn’t aware of how much I’ve been missing not-winter. Book trailers are a thing, I guess. | Just Some Things
https://justsomethingsblog.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/54
Thoughts on writing, life, and whatever else comes to mind. Book trailers are a thing, I guess. April 11, 2013. If you want people to want your book, you need to communicate in a language they’ll understand, and people understand trailers. I’m not sure I like the idea of a book trailer. It just feels wrong, or at least a bit silly. If I ever write a book, I will probably not be marketing it with a trailer. What do you folks think? From → Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. The end of publishing as we know it? | Just Some Things

Thoughts on writing, life, and whatever else comes to mind. The end of publishing as we know it? April 5, 2013. But how have books been affected? Obviously, the traditional paper book has given some ground over to the e-book, but what about traditional publishing versus self-publishing? His whole family threw their entire business into printing and promoting his book and barely made a profit. Only when they were approached with a publishing deal with Knopf did Eragon. If You Give Your Best Friend a Wedding Toast – emily grace lund
https://elund12.wordpress.com/2016/10/28/if-you-give-your-best-friend-a-wedding-toast
If You Give Your Best Friend a Wedding Toast. October 28, 2016. I remember the afternoon my mom came out to the front yard, where I was reading in the sunshine, and told me I was going to be your maid of honor. This was years ago she’d been on the phone with. Mom, whom she’d been friends with for years and years, and for some motherly reason they’d started talking about how neat a friendship we had. You’re going to be her maid of honor someday, my mom told me. She’s talked about that. Yes, right, that wh...

Dear Heavenly Father,. September 26, 2015. September 26, 2015. I have a question for you. But first, let me explain a bit.). To me, your voice has always been a man’s voice deep, rich, gentle. Maybe it’s not as gentle when I’m reading certain parts of the Old Testament (actually, much of the Old Testament). I’ve always called you Father. Father, thank you for this day. Dear Father, please watch over us. Does that sound odd to you? After all, you’re a he, a him, a his all over the Bible. You’re good at di...
Silver Lining Syndrome – emily grace lund
https://elund12.wordpress.com/2017/01/08/silver-lining-syndrome
January 8, 2017. I have silver lining syndrome. That saying about every cloud having a silver lining is so trite and saccharine I’m fairly sure no one says it anymore. Yet, somehow, it’s the way I’ve conducted myself for about as long as I can remember. Give me a situation, and I’ll find some way to draw one of those glittery outlines around it. God’s just testing my patience! Who knows what I might have been rescued from! Maybe it would have crashed! Friend’s having a rough time? I’ve stolen back a bit ...
Sitting Still – emily grace lund
https://elund12.wordpress.com/2016/07/26/sitting-still
July 26, 2016. Sitting still isn’t the most attractive of options. After all, where’s the adventure in saying, I think I’ll just stay here? I’m sitting and typing this in a Chicago suburb, having finished up another day of proofreading and writing and talking over article ideas. It’s the kind of job I hoped for during all those late-night library sessions in college. Actually getting it seemed too good to be true. One friend told me I’d won English major. Because there’s something else, right? Black sky ...

January 20, 2016. January 20, 2016. My first peek at my new–cold–state of Illinois. The cold was supposed to be the hardest part. Sure, moving to a new state and starting a new job would be difficult. Someone would ask me about post-graduation plans, and I would tell them I was moving to the Chicago area in January. And the response? A laugh, followed by: Chicago? Do you have a coat? I did Two, actually the big, puffy, Michelin Man-esque ones.). But other things have been harder. I just want to know what...
December 2015 – emily grace lund
https://elund12.wordpress.com/2015/12
December 31, 2015. December 31, 2015. December 17, 2015. I’ve never been good at goodbyes. I don’t know how to say them. I don’t know where to start. Do I visit each friend and mentor and professor, deliver letters and thank-you cards that couldn’t adequately express the immense depth of gratitude I feel? Do I walk through each building, each hallway? Is there some word I can say or hug I can give that will do justice to the time I have spent in a place? The woman and man I sit between know each other &#...

More Metaphors, Please. October 31, 2015. October 31, 2015. We all know the inadequacy of language. Words are but the vague shadows of the volumes we mean, wrote novelist Theodore Dreiser. Little audible links, they are, chaining together great inaudible feelings and purposes. Aldous Huxley, of. Fame, agreed: For in spite of language, in spite of intelligence and intuition and sympathy, one can never really communicate anything to anybody. For me, writing is. 8230;a rainy day. Speaking of movies, I’ve al...
The Redeeming Business (Or, Why I’m Listening to Sufjan Again) – emily grace lund
https://elund12.wordpress.com/2016/09/22/the-redeeming-business-or-why-im-listening-to-sufjan-again
The Redeeming Business (Or, Why I’m Listening to Sufjan Again). September 22, 2016. September 22, 2016. I like to think of myself as in the business of redeeming things. And by redeeming things, a more accurate phrasing might be making new memories but redeeming has a more profound, less Hallmark-y sound about it. And by things (a terrible word but also a nicely vague one), I mean songs and clothes and smells and all the wonderfulness that gets stained with the stuff we’d rather forget. Lest I sound too ...

Just something new -;. You learn something new every day, don't you? Richard Pricey Wispa Gold. September 18, 2009. 5th of September, 2009. The birthday present I want to get for my friend (who’s birthday was on 29th of July – yes, I know, shame on me) costs $20 before delivery. The dollar is kind of weak against the euro, though, so as long as shipping doesn’t cost too much I should be fine. So now I know how much I have to save. It’s a recession, though! OOOH OOOH. I also found out today that there...

Just some things
Instead of running around like a mad-woman I’ve had a mostly relaxing few weeks, getting little annoying things organised (banking, amazon subscriptions, sending packages), eating a lot of food (hello, amazeballs thanksgiving lunch at Lincoln! Applying for jobs back in Australia (urgh), and doing some final (for now) wanders around the city. Have a few photos. Skating rink with no skaters. You better believe I stayed to watch that zamboni do its thing. Hypnotic my friends, hypnotic. Tuberculosis in the s...

Just some things I Rote...........
Just some things I Rote. Monday, 15 March 2010. March 2010 part 1. March pt1- more bad news, more tough times. Barely had my family returned from attending my Grandma’s funeral in the Isle of Man then my family had more bad news. My dad got a call that his father wasn’t very well and he had to rush down to Nottingham. After a lot of trips to and from Nottingham over the course of a week, my Poppa suddenly deteriorated and died. They have also been great since I came; writing to me and sending me care pac...

Random Thoughts
A collection of random thoughts, ideas, links, and just about anything. Friday, March 26, 2010. Steamed Chicken with D.O.M Liquor. I was also advised to refrain from touching water, in the sense that I can only bathe once a day and maybe 3 times a week or alternate days, not everyday. Also, If I do bathe, the water must be warm. and if possible boil the water with ginger, and use that to bathe. It's Steamed Chicken with D.O.M Liquor. 3 tbsp DOM (D.O.M) Benedictine liquor (法国廊酒). 1/2 tbsp sesame oil.
