George Kachergis: Ruminations

I am pleased to announce that as of September 2016 I will be an Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University and in the Donders Institute. My paternal grandfather was an artist. By the same name. Our family name is from Lithuania. My middle name is from my maternal grandfather, who was a particle physicist. I grew up near Pittsboro. NC I attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. At Leiden University, working on the EU RoboHow project. To address these question...
George Kachergis: Academic
http://www.kachergis.com/academic.php
I am interested in understanding the mechanisms of learning, memory, and categorization so that we may model how people represent knowledge. Because I am interested in cross-cutting areas that are often studied separately, my work falls in the various subareas of categorical perception, semantic models, associative learning, language learning, memory, and decision-making. My dissertation. GK, 924.2013. Brief descriptions and figures. Kachergis, G., Berends, F., de Kleijn, R., and Hommel, B...Kachergis...

I've been reading as long as I can remember. My parents tell me I read signs to them as they carried me over their shoulders. My parents read to me as a child, as well. They began reading J.R.R. Tolkien. S The Hobbit to my sister and I in first grade. Halfway through, my sister Emily, who is almost two years older, began to read ahead. I didn't enjoy being read to alone, especially with Emily exclaiming, "Oh, I like this part! I've replaced my database with my GoodReads account.

A fascinating site concerning science, math, AI, and philosophy. Interesting writings on the Singularity, AI, and the human mind. Sutton and Barto's canonical book. Jacobs' Computational Cognition Cheat Sheets. Short introductins to various mathematical models and techniques used in cognitive science. Useful! The Open Cognition Project. CRCC (The Center for Research on Concepts and Cognition). This is where I work, with Doug Hofstadter. S research group called FARG (The Fluid Analogies Research Group). Of course CRCC has a context too: It lives within the IU Cognitive Science program. Friends, Family and Colleagues. Dan is an excellent philosopher and one of my coauthors for Inside Jokes. Reg, another coauthor of Inside Jokes. Is a social psychologist working on emotional cognition in response to facial expressions. If you're a close.

Wait… We’re Doing What? Now, we certainly had the standard family trips to the beach and the mountains and what not. Hell, we even went to Disney World at least once. The difference, though, between my family and the rest, is the stops in between. Largely spearheaded by my father, the Fowler family has been out searching for the bizarre and unknown for my entire life. Searching for wagon ruts in Wyoming? Done it. Shad festival in Grifton, NC? Check Petroglyph hunting in Utah? Grant Fowler, world traveler.

George Kachergis - Research Overview
Focused on the problem of language acquisition: how do learning and memory mechanisms allow us to bootstrap meaning from the statistics of our language environment? Recently, I have been eagerly applying cognitive psychology knowledge and models to create adaptive educational software, which I am excited to use as a research platform for active, self-directed learning- even as it is used to improve literacy and numeracy! Check out an introduction. Some of my projects- in pictures (made in R. Dynamic Game...

Silverfire's Book Of Shadows
Silverfire's Book Of Shadows. Merry Meet, this is Maeve Silverfire. Welcome to my online Book of Shadows (BOS- it's kinda like a magickal diary for wiccans and witches). OK, so I have been neglecting this page. A lot has happened in the 2 years since I updated this page. I have found a coven and am no longer a solitary witch. Yea! I am learning a Celtic Wiccan tradition. Plus, I have learned a few life lessons these past 2 years. Wow! It is a personal webpage with more details about me, my hobbies and in...
