My trip to Africa: Days 6 and 7- Fort Portal

http://generallimelight.blogspot.com/2008/06/days-6-and-7-fort-portal.html

My trip to Africa. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Days 6 and 7- Fort Portal. It was about a six hour drive there and back, which is terrible. I've probably spent more time on busses and planes than I have in villages, but I suppose I don't have any power over that. I was actually looking to talk to Melody last night; but it seems they got sick of waiting and went to bed at normal human being time, unlike the rest of us. I'll talk to her later. Mostly, I am overwhelmed. The people have what it is I need. Not jus...

My trip to Africa: Days 4 and 5- Free day and Namyoya

http://generallimelight.blogspot.com/2008/06/days-4-and-5-free-day-and-namyoya.html

My trip to Africa. Sunday, June 22, 2008. Days 4 and 5- Free day and Namyoya. Another exhausting couple of days. Wow! Not just exhausting physically, but emotionally. Even mentally. It's absolutely incredible here, don't get me wrong, but it's just so different. Case in point, the free day yesterday. The high point of the day was visiting the shops. The first place we went to was called National Theatre, and it was a sort of Marketplace. So, I got to barter! And, today we went to Namyoya for church and t...

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip: Namyoya - Work Day 2

http://chrisanddebbieuganda.blogspot.com/2008/07/namyoya-work-day-2.html

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip. Saturday, July 12, 2008. Namyoya - Work Day 2. Today is Thursday (June 26). This is the last scheduled day we have. The full team is headed to Namyoya. Those who did not go on Wednesday are anxious to see all the changes that have happened to the church since we attended services last Sunday. As we leave Kampala today, we have to take a detour courtesy of road construction on the main highway towards Namyoya. The ‘detour’ resembles a BMX. No - it is not Gunga.

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip. Saturday, July 12, 2008. Paraa Lodge - Day 2. We awake to a beautiful morning. Breakfast is great and we check out and head for the bus. We want to leave by noon so that we do not get back to Kampala too late. We have decided to attend church in Namyoya. On Sunday so that we can spend one last day with the people we have grown to love. We arrive at the Nile and board the boat. The river is dotted with foam from Murchison. We catch the occasional croc. As we ...

http://chrisanddebbieuganda.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip. Saturday, July 12, 2008. It has been two weeks since I have returned from Uganda. I have been reading the blogs from Team Two and following Team Three. I wanted to take an opportunity to share some thoughts about Uganda and this trip. I’ve held a child with AIDS,. Waded in the Nile. Saw God’s glory in His creation. I’ve wept with my friends,. Saw children raising children. Received an African name. I saw a village ravaged by disease. One of the things I did ...

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Road Trip - Day 1 (Fort Portal). We left early for Western Uganda. It is a five hour trip to Tooro. High School. The roads are not bad and the traffic is fairly light. All in all, the drive was not too bad. We have a good group and JJ. Is better than a radio station. We arrive in Fort Portal and take our bags to the hotel. From there we go to Tooro. Silas is VERY happy. Can you guess what this is? It is what is left of the house Silas ...

Global Family Rescue Uganda 2008 Mission Trip. Saturday, July 12, 2008. Sorry - no pictures - only a monologue. The cameras are put away. We awake on Sunday and get the word that Kaitlin is on the way home. She is very sore but there are no severe injuries – praise be to God. We are all very relieved and you can see everyone’s spirits lift. Breakfast tastes better and the air is cleaner. We rummage through the various bags that the team was going to leave and find two duffel. Kaitlin arrives with Herb an...

The Travel Report | … and me.

8230; and me. August 14, 2009 in Bali. Well, I slept through the night for the first time since I’ve been home. I detest jet lag. But I do enjoy having a mid-night-morning snack at 4am, which is what I’ve been doing since I got home. That’s dinner time for me, so naturally, home made cinnamon buns seemed like the way to go! There are a few things I miss and some things I don’t:. I dont’ miss:. 2 The sometimes bad bad smells. 3 The gross public toilets. 5 Spending a lot of money on …? 14 The good parties.

Friday, April 9, 2010. London Bridge, London. This Temporary piece used motion sensors to record all the pedestrians on the bridge and played it back as a matrix of colors on top of Tower Bridge a block away. Monday, July 7, 2014. First semester of Third year left me with this. This was the original plan for this assignment, I wanted him to end up under water :( Time would not allow for it. Life drawing is amazing in third year, the teacher 'Tim' is fantastic! And you're pretty much free to explore any styles or subject matter you want. You aren't forced to draw exactly what's in front of you, you're encouraged to branch out and try new things and let your style affect your drawings. We spent quiet a bit of t...
