Our eyes were feasted to a gorgeous Eagle sitting on a wall looking for its next victim, just at the entrance of the Bundala National Park. The enthusiasm of the trip was degraded when it started to rain. But it was another new experience. We were all getting flooded inside the jeep and it was a very hard job to keep our cameras, PDA’s and phones dry. We witnessed many birds sitting on tree tops and some under the shades. Hambanthota Port | Kaludu

This is going to be the world’s first port which is being built inside the country. The first phase of the project will end in 2012 by which time the port can accomodate 3 ships. We booked our arrival from Sri Lanka Ports Authority and this was a very rare oppurtunity for us since we witnessed the bottom of the harbour. The guide was excellent. He explained everything in detail and welcomed every question that we had to ask. Many people gathered on that day to witness this new construction.

A long road with clear water, fishermen, trees on its sides and a clear blue sky above… the road is about 10 feet above the normal ground level.
