To make a LONG LONGLONG story really short, silk rearing involves planting enough of the host plant trees to feed the silkworms (at least 250 per farmer). Waiting for the trees to have enough leaf volume to host the silkworms (1.5 years), attracting a silk moth (with your most attractive outfit). Then we do it all again :). Saturday, May 5, 2012. Madagascar: August 2011

http://www.kannoneill.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Lemurs and heffalumps and woozels you say? Stories from a girl in the Peace Corps. Wednesday, August 10, 2011. The places I work. To get to the places I work:. I walk to the market and take a 20 min taxi to the river port. Then I take a public taxi boat (with a motor) 3.5 hours upstream to a 3-way river junction. At the river junction, I switch to a wooden dugout canoe for another 3 hours. And I finally arrive at one of three villages upstream. (there's a person in this picture under my Totoro tree).

Lemurs and heffalumps and woozels you say? Stories from a girl in the Peace Corps. Friday, July 29, 2011. I walked into the big, old empty concrete building on the first day, and my friend delivered me directly to the dance instructor and promptly left to go do some other activity. Well, no one in the class knew any English, and I could not yet speak a word of the Maroantsetra dialect, so obviously we got started right away. Sunday, July 3, 2011. After going to the market in the morning and buying a coll...

Madagascar: My Work

http://www.kannoneill.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-work.html

Lemurs and heffalumps and woozels you say? Stories from a girl in the Peace Corps. Saturday, May 5, 2012. People have been asking me to talk about what I do. In Madagascar (besides getting abandoned on the roadside and holding meetings with my house-bugs). A fair question. I may have accidentally neglected to write about SEPALI, seeing as I spend almost all of my time working with SEPALI or writing about SEPALI. We would love some help when everything gets settled!
