K.May Studios: Jury Selection
http://kmaystudios.blogspot.com/2011/07/jury-selection.html
Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Butkeeping in the theme of juries, yours truly was selected by a jury of her realistic peers to be in the 6th annual International Guild of Realism show in Santa Fe New Mexico. I'm pretty stoked. Especially, as I've entered several contests in the past few months and have mostly been handed my hat, so to speak. So.yeah me. Just goes to show, whatever state you are in .Virginia, Georgia.or even the state of denial, keep trying. This is the painting that made it in.

K.May Studios: Torrit Grey
http://kmaystudios.blogspot.com/2011/08/torrit-grey.html
Wednesday, August 17, 2011. It seems these days that there are a million new companies that make paint. water soluble oils and all kinds of 'hand made' paint. Some I like and some I don't, but one company that I DO like is also impressive in their recycling efforts. This Torrit air system sucks all of the otherwise rainbow shnoz pigment particles into the system and collects them for a year. Imagine every color you have, mixed together. What color would it be? Every year to paint a picture, using JUST To...

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. I've had over a month to get my change of major paperwork done. Guess how much is done. Did you guess all of it? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View some of my other artwork. Working mostly in oil, I enjoy the challenge of realism. I'm finally branching out from private selling and trying to be brave enough to 'put it all out there'. Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Does language ruin art? Or "are you writing? What if the questions asked of a child was "what are you creating? Then the child could explain "this is a dog, this is my name, this is you". Those marks then might represent an object, a word or name and a concept or relationship. The book goes on to say that as children age into older adolescence, they tend to imitate what will bring them acceptance even in art. Are they encouraged to create or re-create? Where will it hang? K.May Studios: April 2011
http://kmaystudios.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Back in the saddle. A very rough sketch just to block in the composition. Chunking in big blocks of color. working to establish shadows. Done-ish. I'm sure that I'll futz around and probably over work it, but I've gotten to a point at least this evening where I'm satisfied with this for what it is. Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Welcome to my day. Actually, welcome to my last few weeks. The dreaded rut. Some ruts are blamable (is that a word? There are great inspirational catalysts t...

K.May Studios: Sketching sketching sketching

Monday, August 8, 2011. Editallow me to apologize ahead of time for the crazy picture placement in this entry. Blogger is messing with me and what I put in place seems to have a mind of its own. So.the pictures in this entry are very Zen like in their random-osity. Deal with it. I've been really caught up in applying for grad school so I've been slack in much of the online department. I've been painting, and photographing, and sketching.but no blogging. I have a small (8x10). With me. Nothing fancy&#...

K.May Studios: June 2010
http://kmaystudios.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Out of the Zone. A friend of mine asked me to show some of my work that is not my 'usual' work. I have oodles of paintings around the studio and around the house that are not a part of the collection of work that I am trying to build up. for the most part, no one ever sees them. Here are two of those works. This one is pretty large. It's 36x48 on a pretty thick gallery wrapped stretcher. It's lively and fun and was painted from a tiny scrap of a black and white photo. I've been ...

http://kmaystudios.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 14, 2011. I know it's not a good thing, but I've been on a bit of a painting hiatus for a few weeks. Granted, I was out of town for a week or two, but mostly, I just got sort of burned out with the way and place I was working. Not good. In the past few weeks, I've drawn my lunch, people on the plane, paper bags, a waterfall in a local shopping center. Anything and everything. HING, the more I can draw ANYTHING. Make sense? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View some of my other artwork. Working m...
