IA/UX thoughts, and other things. Ryan Singer – Master Craftsman. April 24th, 2012. A while ago I bought this video. What I found most interesting was how Ryan simply dives into a solution as soon as he’s given the problem. It’s quite a tricky one: how to design an interface to pick most likely winners in a cycle race and then submit these into a sweepstake or something. There’s a bit of mental scene setting, but pretty soon he’s looking hard at approaches and problems. Just like Alan Cooper. It looks go...

Monday, September 16, 2013. Cancer markers are dropping, from 96 to 37 now. The last round of chemo was horrendous though but I'm taking a break for a month. Whew, wish this monster was easier to beat. Thanks for the concern. All going well. I've finally learned how to be really lazy (still irritates me), so many things I need to be doing or working on. Until later. Kate. Sunday, April 14, 2013. But, I believe in miracles and perhaps will be back to rant and rave again on KAB. Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Kate Boorman is an independent artist and writer from the Canadian prairies. She has a Master of Arts in Dramatic Critical Theory, and a work resume full of the usual, whacky assortment of jobs. Kate spent much of her childhood reading books instead of being useful around the house, and now she writes them, which means she is still not very useful. She is fond of beautiful-creepy things, good chocolate, and cozy slippers (all three are an essential part of her writing process). Kate A. Boorman.

What Life and Google Taught Me About Motherhood
What Life and Google Taught Me About Motherhood. Sunday, August 11, 2013. Yay for birth stories! I have heard the awesome comparison that birth stories are like war stories, every woman that has one, loves to share it. I am no exception. I am a birth story freak! I love to tell and listen to them, every mothers is so very different. I had not more than sat down when out of the clear blue came a very painful contraction, suddenly another one came five minutes later. If I were a sane human, I would hav...

Kate Abroad
The times and travels of Kate and Jim in Latin America. IN PROGRESS] Diary entires from Posada del Angel, Pariah, Venezuela, 1.11.03-14.12.03. The following diary entries are my record of our time living small lives in one place. I've kept the date entry format so the picture can build slowly, although I'm not convinced that it isn't a bit tedious. Gregorio stamps upstairs one at a time. He has a bit of English and greets all gringos with "HI! The swimming pool was inexplicably drained in the night.
