Day Twenty-Two | Katie In Ireland

Just another WordPress.com site. Journey’s end →. July 25, 2010. I feel like the weakest person in the world right now. Today was a trip to Croagh Patrick. I spent six years in fake Girl Scouts and haven’t been fake camping since the 8th grade. I hate getting dirty and I don’t own anything from North Face, even though my stereotype demands it. I do not hike long distances. Everyone else is deliriously tired. Should I consider myself to have made the smart decision? This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway | Sweet Pea-t
https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/08/24/irelands-fine-arts
An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway. August 24, 2010 in Uncategorized. This is why I, a never-ending-learning journalist, came to Ireland. I love the arts and want everyone else to experience the uplifting gift the arts have to offer. The trip began with me scrambling to get a story. I was searching for a story outside my realm, something different. The arts were that story. The end result. A Portrait: My Ireland. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. What A Week…. The day is July 18, 2010, day seven of studying abroad in Ireland! We were almost to the edge of the gate at the Marino when Lauren, Greta, Amanda and Kevin walk back through the gates. While we were all trying to figure out the miscommunication, we see the 123 bus we needed to be on pass by; oh, and then Katie calls wondering where we are. So new plan, wait for Katie and catch the next 123 bus to our destination: Kilmainham Gaol. You ar...

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. Definitely A Galway Girl! The day is Thursday, July 22, 2010. We are going to Galway, finally! I have been looking forward to this for the entire trip, and with good reason. Galway. Is on the west coast of Ireland, and sits on the River Corrib. It is a vibrant place, yet ancient and historic. Galway city, with its seaside suburb of Salthill, is an important tourist centre and a gateway to the scenic areas of the county. Lovely women in Galway City!

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. What Matters at the End of the Day. Today is day five of My Ireland, July 16, 2010. I can already feel this time going by me too quickly, but I will be back! It took us all a moment to realize why that dog was driving that car. It was quite amusing and something we all joked about continuously throughout the trip. Starting location for Dubliners' Walking Tour. Kevin and me post caffeine with Lauren and Josh in the National Museum's cafe. Before headin...

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. I’ll Have A Pint! Lets rewind to Monday, July 19, 2010: this is the last full day I spent in Dublin, Ireland with my CCSA group. The start of the day was pretty fabulous because we didn’t have anywhere to be until 2 pm and sleep makes me happy! However, I had to stop by the bank before we all met up at the Guinness Storehouse. We eventually made it to the Guinness Storehouse where Quigley was patiently waiting on us. Welcome to the Guinness Storehouse.

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. The day is the 15. Of July and day four of the trip; funny how day four was the group’s first full day in Dublin, Ireland. Crew got the better end of the deal and I have absolutely no doubt that stories from this trip will be told by all of us for decades to come! Me, I am exhausted but too thankful and excited to notice. I’ve dreamed of coming to Ireland for over 10 years now and I do not plan to take that for granted. The other half of the group, wh...

Katie in Haiti... Again
Katie in Haiti. Again. Monday, March 19, 2012. Often we get into this mindset that love is beautiful, easy, wonderful, stars and rainbows and hugs and kisses and perfect. When, in reality, love is messy. This last weekend I did the Seguin hike again, but this time it was just to Seguin and back, and it was with the senior class of QCS. There were 23 high school seniors and six chaperones. We left QCS Friday morning and I knew 22 of the 23 students. Difference for Amber, Robbie, Irene and myself. We spent...

October 29, 2010 · 8:28 pm. 8230;the behinder I get…. I actually wrote this several weeks ago, but have held off on pushing the “publish” button. Things are settling down now, but this just serves to remind me how quickly they can go awry. (Thanks for reading baby…). Then, like magic, I come home to find the toilet has been scrubbed, the phone-bill paid, the puppy bathed in herbal flea-repellent, and even (bonus! Lesson learned…at least for the moment. 9 months in Palembang, South Sumatra in Indonesia on a Fulbright. Friday, June 11, 2010. I’m home now. It’s wonderful and a little sad at the same time. My friend Jeff Laub sent me Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods, about hiking the Appalachian Trail, and being home reminds me a little of Bryson’s experience when he and his friend finally decided to go home:. 8220;‘Do you want to get a Coke? 8217; I said to Katz. Israeli Summer
An American law student's experiences interning in Tel Aviv. Monday, July 24, 2006. Still quite jet-lagged, but home in South Carolina after a night sleeping in the London airport, a couple of days in New York, and an afternoon of jet skiing on the lake in NC. It's so nice to be back and able to relax. Have been watching CNN a bit, but the American print media is a bit surprising- it honestly seems to be more pro-Israeli than the Israel media! Another argument I think is weak is: "Well, Israel's actions ...

My Great Japanese Adventure
My Great Japanese Adventure. Saturday, 25 April 2009. Following on from the update a couple of days ago. They just wander around at will, bothering tourists for fun and getting lots of pictures taken. Every few feet are stands where you can buy deer biscuits, and the deer go mental for them. My host mum bought some for me to feed to the deer, and within seconds I was surrounded by clamouring deer, some butting me with their heads (and in some cases horns! Thursday, 23 April 2009. No, it's erm, KaTie".

Friday, 22 June 2012. And follow it if you'd like! Hope you're all well! Tuesday, 8 May 2012. The nearer I get to heading back to the states, the more I realize how accustomed I've gotten to things in Spain that really are quite odd. It would take several posts to explain it all. For now, though, I'm going to tell you my jamón story, and that should give you a pretty good taste of it. No pun intended. (Dad, why did I inherit your cheesiness? It's lean, delicious, healthy. Fat on these pigs! To put a long...
