Katie In Uganda: Life back home

http://katieinuganda-blog.blogspot.com/2012/08/life-back-home.html

Friday, 10 August 2012. However, I am doing ok! I actually find it quite strange how easily I am slipping back into the fast pace of life and the world around me. Some days it feels like I never even went away and that the last year could have been a dream. How surreal it feels some days - maybe it's just that right now I am in my honeymoon period as the realities of work and daily pressures are not fully upon me yet! Things I am loving about being home:. My totally wonderful and comfy bed. The beautiful...

Katie In Uganda: Teddy and Leticia

http://katieinuganda-blog.blogspot.com/2012/07/teddy-and-leticia.html

Thursday, 5 July 2012. Teddy's grandmother came to visit her on Tuesday and it is wonderful to hear that she longs to continue a relationship with this sweet girl. Leticia was taken to the nearest hospital and admitted and treated for malnutrition. 5 July 2012 at 23:14. Dear Katie, thank you so much for sharing these stories as to how GSF is helping and supporting these children and other families too. I will be praying for Teddy and her Grandmother and Leticia and her young Mother. Love Mum x x. Goodbye...

Katie In Uganda: Goodbye seems to be the hardest word

http://katieinuganda-blog.blogspot.com/2012/07/goodbye-seems-to-be-hardest-word.html

Saturday, 7 July 2012. Goodbye seems to be the hardest word. Over the last few weeks I have been handing over my medical duties to Nurse Ruth and Nurse Claire (a student nurse who has joined us as an intern for 8 weeks), preparing myself for today and as the end of my time serving here at GSF has been looming closer. Ne story that frequently came to mind during my year away has been about the boy and the starfish;. Now it's time for us to say, Good-bye for just a while,. And until that day we'll meet aga...

Katie In Uganda: Stubborn Days and Big Miracles - Part 1

http://katieinuganda-blog.blogspot.com/2012/06/stubborn-days-and-big-miracles-part-1.html

Monday, 25 June 2012. Stubborn Days and Big Miracles - Part 1. Let me give you just a few examples of some of the cultural differences that I have noticed in just the last two weeks that still take me aback;. Last week I rode into Jinja with one of the families here at GSF. In town they stopped at the skip to empty their trash. We sat in shock as 3 street boys rushed over jumped into the skip and literally started fist fighting each other over the items of rubbish in the carrier bag. One of the lessons I...

Alan into Africa: April 2012

http://agh49.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, 26 April 2012. I had two more vaccinations today and was able to continue my conversation with the doctor. Backed up with a bit of briefing on Islam from a colleague, I asked him what he thought would happen when Jesus returned. At which point he threw me another 'curve ball'. Apparently he's not your average Muslim, but was brought up in a small-ish (only 120 million! Pity I can't keep going back for more vaccinations. or maybe not. Seven down; two to go, in a fortnight's time. What a brillian...

Love that Surpasses Knowledge.: October 2013

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Theres a hole in the bucket. dear Liza, dear Liza. But I think I should've. It couldn't hold or retain what had been put in it. Taking this picture, I also noticed I forgot to put earrings in. One of my top 5 self pet peeves. Only snowballing my irritation.). Thinking of how much I thought I needed the substance dripping through the cracks, I was reminded of a passage I'd read in a book earlier that week:. To fill my deficient heart.". I had joked...

Love that Surpasses Knowledge.: March 2012

http://aboundingbeauty.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. The dream is still different. But, my dream is different now, and for some reason that scares me. God made me a promise a long time ago when it was written, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4. What a beautiful promise! But could it be, in these moments of thinking, that I’m not delighting myself in the Lord, but in the ways of the world? Yeah, I think it could be. The Almighty, Sovereign God o...

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Monday, March 11, 2013. Im on my way. I love road trips. I love to drive, listen to good music, and be with my friends. I'm not there yet, but I know I'm on my way.". It's not my favorite song. It's not sung by my favorite artist. But for some reason, I'm loving it. I know I don't always know the "there", but lately I'm feeling pretty confident that I'm on the right road. A large number of you have invested in me financially. Love that Surpasses Knowledge.: Sometimes a picture just tells it better.

http://aboundingbeauty.blogspot.com/2013/11/sometimes-picture-just-tells-it-better.html

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Sometimes a picture just tells it better. There are some things that don't change:. The beauty of the market displays and the unbelievably tasty fruits it has. The modes of transportation. The food staples: matooke and gnuts. And the local delicacy of grasshoppers. The power. Or lack thereof. Finding bats in your bedroom. And then there are those things that only get sweeter with time:. My good friend and brother, Justus. I love all of this!

Love that Surpasses Knowledge.: The Years of My Mid Mid-Twenties Crisis

http://aboundingbeauty.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-years-of-my-mid-mid-twenties-crisis.html

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Saturday, August 17, 2013. The Years of My Mid Mid-Twenties Crisis. I have the prettiest, smartest, funniest, hardest working, most caring, (insert other absolutely amazing adjectives) sisters in the world. That might not be everyone's perspective, but to me, it's truth. My ears. I put color. In my hair. I got a tattoo. And, then I pierced. My nose. Call it rebellion if you want. I call it freedom. http://aboundingbeauty.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Love that Surpasses Knowledge. Monday, October 29, 2012. Time marches on. Whether I remember it or not. Knowing you have a bad memory at the age of 23 is a scary thing. 8220;How bad did it (stink) when you had your root canal? 8221; my friend Layne asked me in a text message. 8220;Did I have a root canal? 8221; I responded. 8220;Haha, I thought you came over one time after having one,” Layne said. Salut Togo!

Tuesday, January 11, 2011. I remember last year being at the same dances, having just arrived in my village, and how much fun it was then, and still is now. So, check out my picasa website, I just uploaded photos! I added two here. I am in one with a group of women I work, and we are going to build a well there soon. The other is from our enriched porridge formation we made at the clinic. Everyone loves porridge with soy, beans and peanuts for extra nutrition! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sustainably Kate | I now blog at sustainableprincess.wordpress.com See you there!

I now blog at sustainableprincess.wordpress.com See you there! 8220;We’ve moved”. November 12, 2011. Just a heads-up, I will now be blogging at sustainableprincess.wordpress.com. My husband tells me it’s kind of a thing on the internet to post and say ‘We’ve moved’ just, you know, for people’s information. Even though it’s not a ‘we’ it’s really just a ‘me’. But anyway, there you have it. See you there, if you like. Assume the Best, Expect the Best. November 1, 2011. I know this is the difficult path, bu...

Katie in Tokyo

The musings of an English lass in a foreign city. Saturday, 9 November 2013. Last day in Tokyo. It was my last day in Tokyo today, after a fab few days at the International Bazaar. I managed to fit a lot in, including a trip to Kuramae to buy clasps, a trip to Nippori to buy fabric, a trip to my favourite ramen shop for tan tan men, and then a final trip to Loft, where I found some dubious machines to help lose weight. Something to help tone up the mouth muscles. Even the eye muscles get a workout. Canva...
