Paved with Good Intentions: A Homemade Life: Italian Grotto Eggs
http://katorade.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-homemade-life-italian-grotto-eggs.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. A Homemade Life: Italian Grotto Eggs. To keep up with our fruit picking week, Thatkid and I headed out for more. This time we went green. Watermelons! When I went looking for strawberry fields I found Kenny's Strawberry Farms. Which sounded very promising. The only problem was that Kenny's strawberry season ended July 4, which is when their watermelon season began! I've never heard of watermelon picking, but at the rate we consume watermelon it sure sounded like a good idea! Well, ...
Paved with Good Intentions: December 2014
http://katorade.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Little Men: Veal Madeira. Our first item on the agenda of our Christmas vacation was a trip to Magski's house for a little catching up. It's always fun for Thatbaby when we visit Magski's family because he and Ace? They're like peas and carrots. The two of them are ridiculous together. Out of control. Madmen. I do always step it up for New Year's dinner though. I think I get that from Thatdad. He used to do lobsters for New Year's. With double stuffed potatoes. Add mushrooms...
Paved with Good Intentions: A Homemade Life: Ed Fretwell Soup
http://katorade.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-homemade-life-ed-fretwell-soup.html
Thursday, August 06, 2015. A Homemade Life: Ed Fretwell Soup. This would have been a much better idea if Thatbaby was born in the fall. Or enjoyed the stroller. Instead we head out in the hot, humid weather that has us both sweating. (And me gulping gatorade) Thatbaby usually falls asleep in the stroller on the way down, but inevitably wakes up at some point once we get to the market and then I wear him the whole hot, sweaty, mile home. A basil plant, kettle corn (for the drive in! From A Homemade Life).
Paved with Good Intentions: Sunday Runday: First Postpartum Run
http://katorade.blogspot.com/2015/08/sunday-runday-first-postpartum-run.html
Sunday, August 09, 2015. Sunday Runday: First Postpartum Run. After 7.5 weeks I'm officially back! I actually thought I would be back a lot sooner. I mean, after my first pregnancy I was running again at 3 weeks. And I was still running at 40 weeks. Heck, I went on a 2 mile walk the day I went into labor. But this time around, it was not to be. At 3 weeks, I was still bleeding, so I wasn't going to add in running. I decided to wait until my 6 week appointment. But at the same time, it felt good to be out...
Paved with Good Intentions: A Homemade Life: Winning Hearts and Minds Cake
http://katorade.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-homemade-life-winning-hearts-and.html
Friday, August 07, 2015. A Homemade Life: Winning Hearts and Minds Cake. Yesterday was our 9 year anniversary. 9 years. 9 years of being silly. We've gone from being kids. To having kids of our own. And every year has brought us closer together. The 9th Anniversary is the Willow Anniversary. Thatboy's card to me included a quote from Bruce Lee - "The willow survives by bending in the wind." I laughed when I read it. "Are you really quoting Bruce Lee? I know, but the quote is still a good one! Preheat the...

Puppy Lovin' Reflections: First of many...
http://mrsbumblebee.blogspot.com/2012/01/first-of-many.html
Thursday, January 26, 2012. So I knew that I really wanted to continue to go to Disneyland on NYE. It would be what my dad would have wanted. To continue to hold that tradition for 12 years and keep it strong. However I knew how hard it would be for me to enter those gates without my partner-in-crime by my side. As were the mouse-ears! I am so glad she offered to come! I'm so grateful for these people. They'll never know how much they mean to me. And they were pros at spending a day at Disneyland...When ...
Bean's Bistro: Eat to the Beat: Retro Coca-Cola Jello Mold
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/09/eat-to-beat-retro-coca-cola-jello-mold.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. Eat to the Beat: Retro Coca-Cola Jello Mold. AKA Not So Attractive Flesh Gelatin. AKA Very tasty, but very ugly dessert in my fridge we just can't get excited enough about to actually eat. Ok, so I really had such a great idea for this latest round of Elly's Eat to the Beat. There is a verse that spoke to me for this event:. I think you're slipping. Cooking with Coke, now that was something different. And what about the retro aspect of diving into old school dishes? All of tha...
Bean's Bistro: July 2008
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 24, 2008. I probably first made it 7 or 8 years ago when I first got the stone and it is in fairly regular rotation in my kitchen. From Pampered Chef, 'Season's Best Recipe Collection 1999 Fall/ Winter'. 5-6 Large Burrito Sized Tortillas (I always buy flour and don’t know if corn would be good.). 2/3 Can Refried Beans (I use fat-free or vegetarian style.). 1/2 C to 3/4 C. Sour Cream (Again, I use fat free.). 1 Tbsp. Chili Powder. 2 tsp Cumin Powder. 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder. Ok, so slather o...
Bean's Bistro: September 2008
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. Oh, pardon, I got a little excited there! Fall is my favorite season and nothing heralds in the season better than pumpkin foods. After my disastrous jell-o mold, I thought I'd get back up on the horse with the new silicone bundt pan. It didn't matter though- it was delicious! We've been munching it for both breakfast and for dessert. Sorry coworkers- I was going to bring it in to share, but I think we're going to gobble it down ourselves! Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Orange Glaze.
Bean's Bistro: Chicken Mole
http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/10/chicken-mole.html
Monday, October 13, 2008. As I stated back then, this is not a dish made by grounding up small ground-dwelling mammals. This is a Moe-LAY- much different. And this time it was fairly traditional and oh so tasty! I served this over white rice with some sweet potatoes that I roasted with a little brown sugar and olive oil. It would have also been great in corn tortillas or just on its own! Based off various recipes at AllRecipes.com. 1 Onion, chopped. 1 Tomato, chopped. 1 tsp 1 tsp. Cumin. Add in the onion...

Grated zest of half lemon. Salt and pepper to taste. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Paved with Good Intentions
Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Crave Wednesday: Mocha Banana Split. So it's not much of a secret that our family is a Hamilfamily. Both my kids can recognize a song from Hamilton before the lyrics kick in. Thatkid informed a birthday party this weekend that "My Shot" is his favorite song. So when we got word Hamilton was rolling in to San Diego, I did everything in my power to ensure I would get tickets. Multiple tickets. Or "Why is everyone laughing? It's been quiet here on the Hamilton front since January&...
